CSW - What does it mean?

CSW = County Station Wagon. Chequer platee is attached with rivets (you can pick up a decent pop rivetter for about £15), or you could resort to using something EVO bond floor tile glue, or even superglue, but that may be worthy of ending up in 100 greatest bodges thread ;)
 
if you dont want to rivet, try 'Sticks like' some adesive thingy avalible in most good hardware stores, don't get it between your fingures though. or counter sunk nuts and bolts, Looks good and easier to remove.
 
As already explained CSW stands for County Sation Wagon. Unfortunately the term CSW is sometimes applied to normal Station Wagons either in ignorance or in an attempt to catch the unwary (a genuine CSW is worth a little more than the equivelant Sation Wagon).
The same is of the name Defender. This is all to often applied to early 90/110's and while you may think 'what's in a name?' it can be misleading as you may underestimate the age and/or assume a TDi is fitted when in actual fact it is only a NA D or a TD.

Countersunk nuts eh?. I thought that they were only a cold weather thing !!!!!!!!

Isn't that what you get when you get a bit overexcited on the torque when bolting something strong on to something soft? Bolting a hitch to a surprisingly rusty frame rail comes to mind...
 
i have been watching this thread for some days hoping someone would post the true meaning of CSW.. it was never heard of untill after the introduction of the gaylander. it does infact mean, Completely Safe in Water. as opposed to the gaylander which isn't. hope this clears things up.
