Best of luck mate.
Don't know how many mods you put/have on your vehicle but when I insured the one I mentioned earlier, I rmembered yesterday how much it was , for limited mileage to I think 3000 a year I got fully comp for £188. But then I am over 60 no points on licence and full no claims. My fully standard TD5 auto is about £250 a year with mileage limited to 6000 a year, with SAGA as they are the only ones who give you unlimited days abroad. I find Lancaster, Graham Sykes, and Heritage are good.
I’ve put the lot on so no room for error...Fog lights, side steps, snorkel, wheels, bench...sigh!! Don’t want to rely on hearsay of factory fit etc so just have to ‘suck it up and play safe’ i guess.

Can't help feeling living in Mancland must have summat to do with it but also it's a more valuable car than any of mine! Also no idea how old you are, etc. But my car is only worth your premium!
Yep definitely has a lot to do with it although i still feel its a whacking great jump from £520 on the D2 last year!!
10 years protected no claims...4k milage...and age 51 for a few more days....birthday on Sat hehehe

This plus the extra cost on the road tax would put me off ever buying one, quite apart from the fact I am not much cop with modern autoelectrics!
But then If I had the money I probly wouldn't care! (Tightwad pensioner talking here!)

To be honest the road tax was much cheaper because its a commercial £260 if i remember rightly but obviously i loose out on insurance as its commercial...i’m thinking once the seats are updated perhaps i’ll be allowed to insure as a car once again and have a much more affordable premium? Don’t be fooled i don’t have the money but my parents have invested in helping me and my grandsons with the car so i’m very fortunate indeed :):)

A Landy should be part of the family :)

I needed commercial van insurance for my old hilux double cab pickup. Thought it was just a 4x4 but something to do with load space/weight or summat?
Yes indeedy and it sure has been missed...eldest grandson (13) loved the RR we had on hire but when we went out in mine again he said he preferred ours... why i asked, i thought you wanted a RR...naah he said this is better cos its ours :D:D

Hiya

wow, £1300 quid, did once have a quote like that , changed to A plan and came in under £400 , but haven’t got any mods on mine

but at the end of the day great u got it all sorted out

funny enough I’ve been thinking about removing the 3rd row seats on mine as I’ve just bought a sliding floor for the boot and with the seats removed will have an extra storage area under the sliding floor, but haven’t decided yet

Hiya @gstuart i’m actually hoping and waiting for a reduction on that 1300 quid after calling today to question the errors on the policy...Has me down as having 1 claim? i was told to by the original insurers to ensure i told the new ensurers that it was a ‘no fault notification only claim ‘ against the 3rd party insurers so it wouldn’t affect my premium...also they haven’t actioned the 10 yrs no claims...sigh..
No mods on yours? Aren’t the improvements on the dash and dual battery classed as mods then? As for removing the seats isn’t there enough storage without using the underside of the shelf?

hiya

here are the details for A plan

speak to Carlie on 01635 874646 , also advise them u belong to Land Rover forums inc the discovery 3 one

they didn’t consider them as mods in the sense of charging any extra , main reason I was thinking about the 3rd row seat removal was using it to store towing strops ,etc , but to be honest might be more hassle than it’s worth , indeed have the side bins and top ones in the boot area

Plse let us know how u get on as also having ur 10 x years NCB should count for something these days

My D3 costs less to insure then my V6 FL1. My D3 cost £195 PA vs £203 PA for the FL1 V6, both fully comp, but then I live in a quiet location which helps.

indeed as they say , postcode lottery, mines also parked on a private driveway which I think also brings it down

Surprised by that if I’m being honest ref the FL1 V6

Right, yet again!
My road tax is £260 too.
But never realised you were insuring it as a commercial, which must make a huge difference. Once it's a normal car it ought to become a lower insurance risk.
