Cornering hard resulting in weird feeling on one wheel (Disco 3)

Winding down a steep windy road yesterday in Morocco and on some tight corners at speed (not stupid speed) the passenger side front wheel would suddenly feel a bit odd and make a slight noise - it might have been the abs kicking in on the one wheel or something similar or might be the wheel slipping?

Anyone any idea what it could be? Tyre pressures are ok, hub, discs and pads are all new, though, have done 2000 miles across Spain and the desert since then.

On one occasion something did very briefly flash up on the dash, suggesting it is ABS or similar kicking in, but, i'm normally too busy watching the road to notice what is on the dash.

Not majorly concerned, all motorway driving tomorrow, just thought i'd see if anyone could help

Oh - Disco 3 btw.
 
did it break traction at all?

presume the diff's weren't locked in off road mode or anything like that?
 
I have had this a few times and has been a wheel bearing starting to go. front NS is usually the first to go (roundabouts) when the bearing flexes it causes a change in ABS sensor air gap which you can some times pick up on a data logger. I don't know why but it usually is on a trailing throttle downhill that it shows up first.

Thanks - will keep a close eye on it - will be a huge bugger if it is - brand new Land Rover part proper part - hopefully it will cope with another 1000 miles to get me home
 
Are the tyre pressures all correct?,a mate with a RR sport had a similar thing happen and it was the esp taking over as one rear tyre was soft.

It should be ok and if it is a wheel bearing hopefully it is a front one they are easy to do compared to the rears which are a press job.

I missed the anorak quote but I spose I might be one as Land Rovers are my job (main dealer master tech) and my hobby (comp safari racer):)
