rear shaft ,case drilling ,govenor and valve block and kick down mechanism, would be easier to use some of the parts to fix mechanical controlled box

That doesn't sound very simple, I don't have anything at the moment but want an auto box for my 90, I can find lots of p38 boxes but not much else

Thanks but that's far too expensive for what I will use it for. It come out the garage once or twice a month for some laneing or off roading

What is the bare minimum electronics the zf4hp22eh needs to operate?

I don't have one at all

I have sold all my tdi running gear to convert to v8 auto. There is very little on offer where I live but can get this box very cheaply, I'm told it comes with all the harnesses but I'm not sure what it needs.

Would it need engine rpm, temperature, throttle position?

My other option is a 3 speed crysler box.

P38 auto is on the CAN bus linked to the engine ecu and ABS. you would be better to get a none electronic zf 4hp22, make sure it is from a V8 with a V8 TC and the output shaft is still fitted, for some reason I have seen these for sale with the shaft removed. Be warned there is a spacer behind the shaft that holds the governor in place, if the output shaft is fitted without this in place the box will go bang.

I think I would have to ship one from the UK by the looks of it there is not one for sale here right now. Plenty of the P38 ones though. I will look a little more at the megashift it looks a more reasonable price but would need ordering from the states by the looks of it.
