Converting a hard top to pick up

Hi it maybe on here already but i have looked and not able to find it....i am thinking of converting my 1983 defender hard top to a pick up ...firstly is this possible and can anyone help me on how to do this? i think i need to get hold of a back piece to finish off the cab once to top has been removed but dont even know where to strat looking for this ...can anyone help please??

It's very simple. Buy a truck cab roof and back, unbolt your hardtop and bolt the truck cab on. When you buy the truck cab make sure it comes with all the bits to fit it.

thanks alot mate didnt realise it was that simple.....or maybe i am ha.....do you know what other years of defender track cabs will fit mine? do i have to get a 1983 or will others do?? cheers

Pretty sure all the defender ones will fit. Series ones are no use the windscreen shape is different.

I've just finished putting my hard top back on again and really is easy to do as mentioned.

Get the parts, couple of new seals and bolt her down, easy peesie

I had to re-adjust my doors but i think that was down to me removing the rear tub as well

Hi I am wanting to swap from a truck cab to a hard top on my defender 90, are the sides just fastened to the tub with nuts and bolts? also how does the roof fasten to the sides is it just nuts and bolts again?

Yup easy to do.

Just did a swap with a guy, my truck cab for his van body. Mines a 92 Defender and his was a 98.

After (you can see my old truck cab on the other Landie in front of mine

Then offer me the sides (as long as they don't have windows) and roof to me and I will give you £1.50 for them.
