I am slowly doing a 300tdi conversion from a 2.5 na. Getting to the last few jobs to hopefully get her back on the road. I am wanting to see pictures or your air filter box set up and what you have used. Also iam wanting to fit a snorkel in to this as well I have tryed to do a search but nout come up to help me out. Thanks

Are you using your current lt77 gearbox or fitting an r380?

I did the conversion to mine and couldn't make the filter to turbo pipe fit around the back of the engine because it sat much further back with the lt77. Short-term I've used a disco 300 filter housing mounted in front of the heater.

Once it gets the r380 box it will go back to a conventional defender 300tdi filter.

Yes am using the lt77 box and I have the disco filter housing just not sure on where to mount it

Sorry about the slow reply, it took a while to get the photos.

I took a standard disco airbox and connected the disco filter-turbo pipe (the one with 2 x 90 degree bends in it) to get an idea of where the box would sit. Please ignore the messy engine bay, it's work in progress

On the nearside, I bolted a 90 degree shelving bracket to the box and bolted that to the inner wing top.

On the engine side, I took a small piece of stainless and bent it to about 45 degrees on each end. It bolts to the bottom edge of the filter box and the inner face of the wing top

The cyclone breather pipe has now been routed around the back of the engine. The box seems to work well and I'm happy with it. Mine had quite a few holes in it so remember to seal those up if you are going to play in water, along with any bolt holes that you have to drill. The mount seems to be pretty substantial, any small vibrations are taken up by the pipe and there's certainly no give when you shake it. :D This pic should give you an idea of how high up it sits - no issues with the bonnet clearance so far

I'll hopefully get the windscreen/snorkel and pipework on when I'm back in UK in 2 weeks, let me know if you want any pictures of that.

Thanks for your reply and I still haven't got round to fitting mine yet anyway. I like the way u have done that how I want to have it . But where would you put the screen wash bottle. Yes pictures of your snorkel setup would be great to as the would have been my next question :D

Not a problem mate ;) My screenwash bottle sits behind the nearside headlight and in front of the heater ducting. I've not got a picture but it appears to be a 200tdi version according to google.

The only problem with the filter set-up currently is the risk of mud/water entering it via the plastic cover above the shock turret. Annoyingly I had to cut a hole in the plastic cover to fit the extended turrets. That should be sorted by fitting the snorkel though :) I'll grab some pictures for you once I get it fitted but it will be a couple of weeks if you don't mind.

Hi no I can wait mate still on with head light at the moment. I will keep a watch out on here for your pictures and updates:D

I have a 200Tdi in the 300Tdi position which I have had to get the airbox to fit. I will try to get a picture up a bit later if I can.
