yes that one that goes to d+on rear of altjust to be sure i tested the right one you do mean the smaller wire with the bit of red tape on? would it be worth looking at the back of the ignition switch to see if one of the wires has disconnected?
if yu are ordering one - get the correct one
no - it acts as a warning light .Yep shall do. Does the bulb act as some sort of fuse?

Stick around mate, things are just begging to warm up.
check volts on both sides of bulb with ign on and report back.
Other way is to take power from ign on, through a 5w bulb and to alternator. bulb should light with ign on and other end connected to alt and go out when engine fires up.
