Looks & sounds like it's STUCK OPEN to me !
LOL Agree never pour boiling water on a cold screen. you will Titanic it (Ref to the new Titanic sinking theory)
Yes it does if you dont wipe it off right away, hence the wipers need to be on just after its defrosted the iceonly ever saw it the once when this women done it
heard the screen slowly cracking from across the road
always remember it was one of the first things my dad taught me, when i got my first car, how to do basic servicing and never ever put boiling water on a frozen screen
also learning hot water freezes quicker than cold water
not a great attempt but there's a photoshop of the temp ranges i get lol
also to clear something up i can run the temp up on a fast road thats flat and cool it by driving on the flat under 50mph so hills are not the problem just near me i have more hills to use to heat it up than fast roads lol

Gary they should be closed when cold ! when you start motor it heats up to about 88ish degree's then opens that lets water in from the rad that then circulates around the motor & probably shuts the therastat down a bit to try & keep the motor at a constant temp ! I thinks that's how it works
change them to domestic radiator bleed plugs thenalready changed to brass on both
well i thinks i'll just order a new stat and temp sensor and fit them both and see what changes haha how much of a pain are they to change!
piece of wee wee.
Would make it a lot warmerwell that's handy to refil the rad then ,
Would make it a lot warmer
Ekk!just make sure the fan doesn't kick in
to get mine to stay there i need to be running 50+ pulling more than i should be or going up a hill, the only thing that made me think it may just be the way the disco is, is the fact it does go up and down the gauge and the blowers heat up cool down with it. still i'll order a thermo and temp sensor asap and see how that go's. at some point im going to put lighting and a cam in the engine bay also with a 2nd cam on my clocks and just drive about a bit see what you guys make of it.The picture on the right is my normal running temp.
