Code reader ?

hi

re my non starting auto 300 edc disco with engine check light on !

Bought a cheapish sealy obd code reader ( 40 quid) to try and obtain the fault code ,to give me a starting point but it wouldn't link with the ecu to read the code .

Is this normal or do i have to get the car to land rover dealer / specialist with better equipment?

Does anyone in the Chorley / Preston area have any equipment and are willing to popp over and plug in? will pay costs?

300tdi is not OBDII compliant ...you need Hawkeye(set on D1), autologic or T4 or other dedicated tester, nanocom is for Td5 ... there are some here which will work onf D1 too http://www.nanocom-locator.co.uk/

And they're all _really_ expensive!
