clutch td5

Hi looking to put new clutch in my 1998 td5 and probably put a new flywheel in as people keep saying whike your there it is a good idea (dual mass flywheel) Has anyone done this job at home on drive or is it a ramp job ? want to do it myself as i guess this would be a lot of labour money in garage. Personally-garage.
If your doin flywheel, I'd be tempted to do the rear crank seal too...& if you're doin that, throw in some new big ends...& if you're doin that...no, now I'm kidding

Pull the engine out, it's a lot easier than struggling underneath with a lop-sided gearbox and transfer box wobbling on a trolley jack!

Plenty of scope for damaging the centre plate trying to line it all up again.

Ha yeah Know what ya mean, said that i wouldn't mind doing clutch over Christmas break and wifeeeeeeee said i thought you were doing egr removal, injector loom, remap, full service i mean you've had all the bits in the kitchen long enough now!!!!!

Clutch is relatively easy to do, only real difficulty is getting the box in and out as they are awkward and heavy lumps.

Also if its of any interest to you, i have a nearly new genuine flywheel and clutch kit on ebay just now. Only covered 1000 miles before the engine expired and was removed again...

If yer clutch aint juddering i wouldn't bother changing the flywheel.
