Hi,

Did you know the issue when buying the car ?

Can be only a faulty master cylindre, but I am affraid that you need a new clutch.

Familiar with freelander 2 having owned 2, there were no issues when I bought the car just happened yesterday after car had been unused for a couple of weeks

I don't like clutch hydraulics, if the pedal behaving oddly once, it can happen again any time soon.
If you know how to shift gears with no clutch pedal, it's ok. But it's better to get it checked by a professional.

Thank you for your reply, had the clutch checked out by local land rover specialist he thinks replace pedal box as he cannot see issues with hydraulic systemn but looking again at pedal assembly the retracting spring seems to go over centre instead of stopping pedal at correct height, appreciate your view on this thank you

Ok tried bleeding clutch conventional way with no success lost all pressure, cobbled up a syringe and pipe and tried from slave nipple never bled anything this way before and it took a lot of effort but success now have a spot on pedal, the fluid that was pushed into master cylinder was black!, so decided to renew and bleed brakes at the same time to get rid of any contamination
