My freelander 1td4 has a noisy clutch bearing so went out today in it and low and behold the pedal hit the floor ..
I've seen plenty of posts regarding changing the master cylinder and bleeding ect just wondering where the best place to buy a replacement Master cylinder would be any information would be greatly appreciated

Hi, My first port of call for decent quality parts is Advanced Factors.
I hate to be the bearer of potential bad news, but my 06 TD4 did the same about a month ago and it turned out to be the concentric slave cylinder in the gear box. When yours happened did you notice any fluid on the ground? Mine dumped its fluid all over the road. Hopefully mine will back running by the end of the week with two new cylinders, a new clutch and a new flywheel! Common sense if you want to keep the motor is to do all this as the gearbox and IRD have to be dropped. I started a thread here:
I was quoted £1200 with the clutch but not the flywheel ( another £400-600ish). Hope you manage to dodge this bullet!
Regards,
Michael.

Shop around for labour costs. It is a book 10 hours plus parts.

Big difference if you can find a good indie at 45 to 50 notes per hour.

Hi Andy, thanks for that. It’s at a good classic LR specialist, literally 3 miles away, and his rates are around the £45-50 mark. He’s got a 13 plate FL2 for sale for £7k and I was initially tempted when it first happened and was recovered back, but I do like my FL1. Not least because when it gets a smack in the supermarket car park I won’t be all precious about it. I’ve had nice cars and, well I’m sure you know the tale…. As long as it’s reliable I’m happy and quite like doing its regular maintenance. Also, this is its only major ‘incident’ in the three years and 10k miles I’ve had it. Yes, I’ve replaced front arms, drop links and track rod ends but it has done 156k now. The FL2 would be far too flash for me! I’ve got simple tastes.😁
Regards,
Michael.
