Hello everyone, Great forum you've got here!

I'm totally new to the Range Rover world (33, Nottingham) having driven mainly BMW's of all shapes and sizes (though currently in a Tesla Model 3 Performance)... But I am convinced that my next car will be a NEW Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE, P400e.

I'm excitedly going through the custom builder pretty much daily at this point, but I want to get your community's feedback and thoughts on the build - Are there any 'must haves', 'avoids', etc? I know it'll all be subjective, but...

https://build.landrover/8C5B8673

p.s. What is the 'real' lead time on a new build? JLR quoting 9-12 months, though I suspect longer?
p.s.s. If this isn't the right place please let me know / admin move the location :)

Welcome Aboard :)

I think you might find that there are few people on here with a new defender - I know one guy considered one, but, IIRC, the price volatility put him off..

For me personally, there is no way I would spend £80K on a new vehicle with all those electronics, given my painful experience, albeit historically with similar vehicles in the past - the problem is a complex one, but it is not just the reliability of the vehicles, but also the "reliability" of the "technicians" (hilarious in its own right) at the main stealers .. then there's the general issue of living high in the pennines, where sh*tbox tronic stuff will not live

I wish you luck with your choice though, genuinely.

Have you seen the Harry's Garage vid on the tube about his 12 months with a new deafener ?

How embarrassing. Apologies for the offence!!... I suspect this is like p***ing on someone's grandmother to some.

Is there a specific area of LZ to discuss NEW Defenders?
I'm also looking for details on the average APR% for those who have PCP, as well as average delivery times - Any recommendations?

PCP, crystal meth, heroin....
It doesn't matter which drug you're on. The new Defender sucks.

Welcome to landyzone regular shaven monkeys. My guess on the new pristine squeaky clean Defender or something like desperate to get a another box to call a defender. The view would be limited just nic nacs on furballs. It may already tick the boxes and become the panacea, in preventing the wet knee syndrome. In some respects, could the new defender be a challenge to the G spot Wagons, than homage to the older design sore head kick in the balls defender.
The audience or buyers are the key
Freelander 1 reputation of being a gaylander for male hairdresser.
Evoques for people with no imagination or knowledge of landrovers in the design development.
So if the object is buying a newer model as a freshman, you likely gather a minimum opinion. due to costs durability of previous defender and availability of spares.
Remember when you buy the new defender it's a keeper but a deep pocket keeper.

Doubtful, TBH. :)

Not really sure "us lot" are the right demographic for a Chelsea tractor - or as a working vehicle with dreadful visibility and which won't take a standard pallet in the back...o_O

You could try AG if you have a thick enough skin - but be warned....

Have you ? Seems a well balanced summary IMO. :)

Afternoon, and welcome. As you will have gathered most on here have 'older' vehicles. Older being 3yrs old by Land Rover dealership thinking, as they don't want to deql with vehicles over that age. We have had members buy newer LR vehicles and be regaling us of major breakdowns after 6 weeks, so don't lose this page ;)
Hang around, join the chat, learn the heritage of the Defender you are looking at. Depending on why you want/need a Defender, chelsea tractor, or workhorse, you might decide to look at a proper one and bypass the plastic fantastic. Maybe, maybe not.
However, rather than leave you hanging, and thinking we are a bit cliquey ( only one not allowed is ejoke) I wonder if this group can help with the questions you have: https://www.facebook.com/defender2020oc/

Good luck whichever path you choose.

Welcome to the forum, like others have said it depends on what you intend to use it for. I haven't any knowledge on them as a workhorse, offroader or Chelsea tractor lol! Be interesting to see how it is if you decide to get one
