looking at countering the blanket 6 month TRO's currently unnecessarily in force on the N.Beds byways.
Support needed!
Please reply to this thread if you are willing to confirm you would use these byways if they were open and add your details to petition to council.

Please help!

Beds offroaders.

This is a difficult one.

Why are the 6 month closures in place? I presume its over the winter period? november to may?

How delicate are the lanes in question? why do you want the closures removed?

If the closures are un-reasonable then i will support you and do what i can to fight your corner.

Thanks for the response. The lanes in question are already closed Oct-Apr. Then they slap a TRO on May 1 to 'prevent possible damage in the event of bad weather'. They look fine but will walk them again following this current spell of bad weather. Used the ones that were open last year and they were absolutely fine. Bit baffled as to why they have closed them really...
Not sure why you are asking why I want the closures removed... To enjoy using them responsibly of course.
I'll post an update following discussion with row officer and another inspection.
Thanks for any support you might be able to offer.

Right got ya. ;) I wondered if it was a seasonal TRO like northants CC(which i do agree with to be honest) there lanes are in excellent condition com the start of summer and it keeps people off them in the damaging winter months.

I only asked about your reasons as obviously there are those out there that don't have the same ethics as others. No offence meant, id ask anyone the same :)

I stand by TRO's when used in the correct circumstances. If councils ares using them as a way of avoiding there duty of care to maintain them then i am all for challenging.

Im not a million miles from bedfordshire and as i go further to enjoy lanes I'm sure a trip down will be forthcoming, id like to be able to see said lanes and why the council are keeping them closed?

Do you have any photos?

I'm going to survey them after this current spell of bad weather and will grab some photos. Probably wait a couple of weeks as his rain is forecast to keep going a while...

Oh and I spoke to my contact in Beds council today and he is as confused as I am why they are closed. He's given me the name and direct tel number of the people to speak to, which I will do after I've surveyed them.
