Hi

1995 reg 1996 MY defender 90 300tdi CSW

recently replaced my wiper boxes (thanks for all your help on that task) so had most of dash out and instrument binnacle.

All was working before but now click only runs with ignition on and heated rear screen dash light no longer illuminates.

So clock appears to have lost perm 12v feed. Before I take binnacle out again any common or obvious ideas. Thanks.

ps everything else is working and everything was reconnected.

Common denominator is the earth header C286 behind the fascia panel. Both heated screen and clock are earthed through there. I think it is a blue multi connector plug.

Thanks I will have a look. I actually think the clock is working and holds time for a while then loses time.

a bit of a return on this. After cleaning the earths and getting the other stuff working the clock was still temperamental- I traced the fault to the wheel in the centre that sets the time. If it springs back out fully and allows twisting in either direction without moving the hands it will work forever. If it doesn't fully engage and catches on twisting the clock will stop.

Any idea how to get it to spring out reliably - clock repairer? Or DIY?
