Ok, only 106 were built in 1987, each taken 3 days to build, no anti-roll bars, 235 psi springs, the same the police used plus HD shocks > stick snapped under pressure, had to use a long screwdriver !
Interesting info. on your version.
I had the same 'stick' problem once on a S3 whilst off-roading, snapped just above the ball & I had to use mole grips!
My '87 has the genuine LR anti-roll bar system (retro-fitted by PO) & also handles well as a consequence. The advantage being that you retain the original suspension & ride whilst only sacrificing half-an-inch of suspension travel, but then I doubt the intended users would have cared about comfort
