ELOTEC = ive tested earth to the Ebcm at the 10mm terminal on the side but not the engine ecu to be fair...

DATATEK = The first time Doug came up he had brought loads of early Ebcms and parts for them and a working unit but he could not get it to graft as it not the same mine was the later type see, he went away with mine and sourced a new well second hand unit and synced it came up the second time to fit, then after fitting we found its still a no go...

Then it was suggested fusebox and then engine ecu which was the reason for Dougs third visit sync the ecu for the engine to Ebcm

DEFENDER300TDI= i replaced the thor engine Ecm with exactly the same one NNN100660 same number on both ecm's Doug came up the third time to sync the ECM to the replacement Ebcm and it still never started up.....

SAINT = ive replaced the crank sensor yesturday as said and it was a proper land rover one, still no go.. So i decided to try the coil packs tonight just to illiminate those what a fooking job the are as well to fit never again with m big hands they ar cut to ribbons lol.... anyway for the record guys

Coil packs fitted X 2 and still no fooking start up.....

Will this ever bloody start up im doubting it will ever run again to be honest......
 
No bother guys i dont expect people to say sorry for advising what it might be or not fellas i take the advice and buy the bits that it could be off my own back id probably bought or thought about buying the bits anyway so its a process of illimination and after whats been replaced there cant be much left to be fair....

Replaced fuse box (well tried a good one)
Replaced all fuses and relays

i may never get to the end of this i must admit but to be fair Rick is sure he can sort it, if he can he is a miricle worker lol....Hope he can as well as im lost off....

neo look mate Im not being funny glad you got the same codes
,but your ECM has not been tested has it so you can't Eliminate it , your only going by what they have said ,its been throw around in a delivery van too probably ...this is the place to buy fully guaranteed money back ecu's and alike http://www.bba-reman.com/catalogue/Products.aspx?category=115

Ask yourself these questions was your bcem actualy tested on a car and did that car fire up and run

You tested a good fuse box that didn't work so at that time was/ is your bcem or ecu working ???
Can be tested at web site above
You now have your fuse box is that working ??? Can be tested on another car

You can only test these in another car to be sure if they are deemed to be working???then you have burnt a wire during the short

DEFENDER300TDI = I know exactly what you saying mate all i can say is, Doug said he tested the Ebcm on his car before he brought it up to me the second time, as the first time he could not repair it on site see....
When the Ebcm didnt start my car he suggested possibly fusebox or ECM
I tried a know good fusebox of sasasnaks car and it made no difference exactly the same so i returned it to him, this included all the relays and maxi fuses and fuses etc...
Next option was the ECM and i got one rightly so you can only assume its a good one but it was from north west range rover spares and said it was tested to be fair i dont know if it was or not...
Doug came back up the third time and synced the ECM with the EBCM and still no start up..
I have no idea about any software or that side of things i can only assume Doug would of said if something was a miss to be honest....
since then ive fitted the coil packs and crank sensor and still no joy.....

Wouldn't the fact that Doug was able to sync the replacement ECU and the 'new' BeCM be sufficient to establish that they are operational? Surely Doug's faultmate would be able to test the ECU?

Unfortunately not. There is, I believe, more than one processor in the engine ECU, so it might still communicate with diagnostics and show no fault if one of the other CPU chips is dead.
Defender has the right idea, if there are multiple failures what has been done so far has proved little other than it might be more than one duff unit. Fuse box changed but not at the same time as BECM or engine ECU, ditto BECM and ECU all changed but not at the same time as the fuse box.
The only way to be sure is to test each unit in a working environment, which is where Rick comes in.:)
Putting the parts on another car may be risky as it could damage the working car:eek:

I didn't think of that was going to suggest he post all bits to rick and await testing save a whole lot of fuel costs ...
 
So when does Rick get his hand in?

My only thoughts now (from 15 yrs layman's experience with cars and bikes) - could the overcurrent caused by the short have melted a key wire or connector somewhere? Have you voltmetered every possible connection and wire?

As it was supposedly a brief flash with not smoke or smell of burnt plastic, unlikely to be a wire or connector, semiconductors however fail in nanoseconds:eek:
 
Doesn't the key unimmobilise the units if parts were sent and synced and tested on said car in reality they won't need to be done Again as its only the two units on Any car that need this ie not eas abs gearbox ect ext

The Imoobiliser tells the BeCM it is OK to energise the Ignition Relay to provide power to the Coils....

Rob has power to the Coils, so we can assume the Keys are properly synced and the immobiliser has given the nod to the BeCM to allow the car to start.....

What if you send units off for another car isn't the key part of the bcem coded or is that differnt system, I assumed when neo got a new bcem he got a key as well??
 
Also power to coils means nothing as far as ECM is concerned there are four separate pins Firing different cylinders if you look In rave ECM output Diagrams
