Just ad a look on the car and it seems simple enough.

Not sure what part needs cleaning with ovenpride tho :O/

Just heard a funny knocking from the rear arch where the fuel pump is I am assuming because it is all loose in there it is just the pump resonating against the plastic arch.

Also heard a noise in the engine bay like the fans were going but they were not!! It seemed to be coming from behind the near side headlight and aswell as sounding like a fan it had a constant high pitched tone to it aswell

Any thoughts?

Sounds like you have a Webassco diesel heater behind the light. Have a look under the front bumper just in front of the near side front wheel to see if there is a little pipe sticking out, this will be the heater exhaust.

The fuel pump should not be loose in there. Were you driving at the time ??? if yes I'm thinking rear diff mount ???.

Yep I do have that little exhaust pipe thing.....Think I had a similar thing on my X5.

no the car was stationary and I got my head in the arch and could feel it a little through the plastic arch lining. I think all the clips and brackets are broken in there and its all pretty loose. Perhaps that's why my pipe came off and leaked everywhere the other day. Might have to look at renewing all that in the arch.

You lucky bu@@er I want one of those heaters they are great in the winter for warming the car before you get into it. People have done modifications to theirs like using a remote fob to start it up 20 minutes before getting in the car so it's nice and warm also clears the frost from the windscreen.

There is a cradle which houses the pump and the fuel filter, there's also another pot (can't remember the name) which collects all the muck. The cradle is held in place by two 10mm bolts, bolted to the back of the chassis and two plastic lugs in the wheel arch. if you've not changed the filter it's worth doing it while you've got it apart it can be a pig of a job to do so be prepared.

Yeah It has had a filter but I gave it to a specialist which turned out to be a mistake!!

Can I buy the cradle and lugs to get it secure?

I think the other pot is a sedimenter that collects water residue doesn't it?

Is that webasto rare on a Sport then?

If the cradle looks in one piece then it could just be the bracket inside that's broke or perhaps come loose it's only held in place by two riverts but you won't know until it's apart.

That's it a sedimenter couldn't remember the name lol

No the Webasto is an optional extra now but at one point they were fitted as standard I think. What year is your FL and what mileage is it on ???

Will have a closer look at the set up in that arch soon.

Its an older one...... 2004 facelift Sport.....Only went for it because of the BMW unit.

Its on 78k which I thought was dodgy but it checked out.....It was a demonstrator for 2/3 years.

Will have to get those oils checked by a decent garage I think.

Will let you know How it performs tomorrow.....:behindsofa: if it lets me down god help it!!!! :violent:

Somebody posted some photos of the braket the other day, but I can't remember which thread.

I don't remember if I fitted an O ring to my EGR bypass, which is very similar, if not the same as the one you were looking at earlier.

The vacuum hose just goes over the thin pipe and as mentioned the hose from the turbo clips to the tap part as you called it. Very simple job.

The cleaning bit refers to the inlet manifold being cleaned.

See the EGR blanking thread in the stickies at the top of the section for all you need to know.

Ha ha I made it!!!!! 100% no problems at all but my god that is a bloody big caravan!!!!

I am defo doing the EGR mod I am confident I can nail that!!!

:0)

I am taking it to storage tomorrow so will get a few taken :). 26.6 feet I think.... Apart from wagons that's the biggest thing I have been let loose on the road with!!!! The Freelander did me proud never once had me worried!!

Off to look at a tabbert Comtesse pikey wagon, on Sunday 25ft long 8ft wide.. & Burgundy red :puke: But it's very cheap so may be worth it.

On way over to the van shortly....... That Tabbert should tow just as nice as mine :0)

Didn't go over 60mph (the legal limit) and it was a great journey 350 mile round trip I think.

Here are a few pics of the Caravan pulled superbly by the FL
