well after getting some decent advice from various members

i got a set of khumo 71's in 245/75/16 referbed my 7x16 modulars , rimmed them up friday got them on friday night
locking nuts and a bike lock on rear
vwry good road manners with little road noise
AND THEY DONT RUB YET !! ( no cuting to arch yet ) +2" springs next

Looks the business

However, I wouldn't rely on that bike lock to stop your wheel getting nicked.

Good set of croppers will go straight through that for sure.
Sad to say my spare resides inside the vehicle nowadays

Very nice but the spare is a easy nick. you got a disklock for you can keep the other 4 tyres/wheels

did think about that , but the bolt croppers will break the window easy
are there any decent locks out there ?

I use some extra locking wheel nuts on the spare. They are cheap compared to a replacing the spare.

im in the process of adapting the rear carrier on my disco as the 35" tyre wont fit

i also need some way of securing it as a rim and tyre that costs over £200 i dont want nicked and i dont want it inside the motor

well so far ive got a bike lock and two locking wheel nuts
am thinking about getting a just leagle spare tyre to stick on the rim
and stock the new tyre till needed

looks good mate,yes spare wheel is a target mine is the same brand new tyre fitted to it,although i stay in a good area,still makes me wonder when it will go missing thinking of putting mine on roofrack,but if they want it they will take it anyway..

Those wheels, especially the rear could still rub under heavy articulation. Even with a lift they will rub, the lift allows more articulation, but doesn't stop it rubbing when the articulation is reached.

Either extended bump stops, or a camel cut would sort it however. Might get away with the front, or just modify the corner pieces slightly.

Turtn the carrier upside down it'll fit then. flatbar welded to carrier with an hole drilled thru it, that lines up with a bolt hole then one of these thru wheel stud hole and bar. 90 MM SHUTTER LOCK PADLOCK PAD LOCK CAST IRON SECURITY STEEL SHACKLE 3 KEYS NEW | eBay

Yep I have 235/70/16's insa sahara's and they rub when laning. However Me road tyres don't. The steelies that me mud tyres is on have a wider offset, so goinna transfer em onto my spare set of disco alloys and see if they still rub.

the rims are 7x16 modular style with normal off'set £100 inc post from e,bay , after i sprayed them black they look like more off'set than they are
tyres are 245/75/16 kumho kl71 came from a local tyre shop , on a take away deal @ £81 as i fit my own tyres
