Hi all,

I'm in the process of renovating my defender, I've just purchased a galv chassis and after looking through various posts I've decided to paint it. I've already got some mordant t wash, but now I'm not sure what primer and topcoat to use. Any ideas of paint types/brands would be great thanks

I would use Polyurethane paint from Smith and Alan, use the link in Lorri's post ^^^ and ask for Joe. They will mix any colour you want. Polyurethane is marine grade paint and dries semi flexible, I am painting my RRC chassis with it.

Hmm just having another look at various paints, a lot of people seem to go on about chassis black paint, but I don't have a clue what brand or supplier to get it from although I have seen a company called purfleet selling chassis paint. Think I'm a little lost with all the masses of different paints available.

I was told by a professional painter that more coats if cheaper paint is better than 1 coat of expensive stuff, not sure about the semi flexible stuff but with normal paint if you have more seperate layers stone chips etc do less damage

Just been to a paint specialist, and have been told to mordant t-wash the chassis, use a two pack epoxy primer followed by a two pack gloss black topcoat.

Thanks for all the advice but I think I'll go with the paint specialist on this one.
