I'm going to change my axles in the next day or two, I've managed to drop on a pair of low mileage td5 axles from a defender 90. Question is how long will it take me to swap them over, the replacement axles have all the steering rods, radius arms trailing arms and brakes all fitted. i need to give a freind an estimated length of time as he may be able to give me access to a car lift.

i will be doing mine over the long weekend but that will include all new bushes and a service and fitting a detroit locker to a salisbury axle etc.

if yer take yer time and do them proper, a day i spose, but if your not used to being on the tools it might take a bit longer , just replace most fixings as you might end up cutting them off any way ,

You could do them both in a day if everything goes to plan and nothing sticks but I'd allow a weekend as Jai says just to be sure. Especially if you've not done them before. They are bastard heavy and awkward to manouvre on your own so rope some help in.

I changed my rear axle last weekend.
Took RRC rear axle off.
Which was the hard bit, It was one stubborn git!
that took me a day, well started at 12 finish at 6.
As jai says give it the whole weekend, and expect to use a grinder.
Oh and that A joint is a sod to remove, luckly I replaced mine so I hit the threaded bar till it popped out as I couldn't get my pulley anywhere near it to remove it.
Taking the 90 one off was a breeze. Every nut and bolt on the rangies axle was seized and I huffed, puffed and turned the air blue whilst boiling alive.
Long weekend with lots of tea:D

I'm on a mission to replace all the front bushes, shock top and bottom, radius arms panhard rod etc aswell as strip out 2 salisbury axles and replace each one with the other if that makes sense. lol swap a detroit across from one to another. Ow and replace the rear 11 inch drums with 10 inch drums. I don't suppose anyone has the Aframe the 2 HD arms for the rear axle kicking about now do they? I could do with a rear a frame for the other chassis. for swaps or a few beer tokens

What you want rear panyard rods and a frame what that complete bit?
I have all that on my chopped up chassis, also gotta disco with it all on, and the rangie has a lot of meat on the carcass.
