Where abouts in Derbyshire are you. Finding lanes shouldn't be a problem.

Im in between Sheffield and Chestefield, takes me about 5 minutes to get into the Peaks. I only know of a few lanes and two of them are closed at the minute. Think it would be better to go with a group as i don't have much off road experience at the minute.

Some cracking work there mate! :)

Really like what you've done with the rear crossmember/chassis with regards to chopping it back a bit.
Giving me some good ideas as I'm planning on a body lift very soon and can't think of decent solution for the rear bumper.

Anyway keep up the good work! It's a very nice looking disco. :)

Looking forward to the next update! :D

Thanks man. Its getting there slowly! Thought i may as well give there rear bumper a go and see how it turns out. Think it would have looked daft making the old bumper fit so thats what i made. I cant take credit for all of it however, i got the idea from wiltshire landymans thread http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/finished-body-lift-pics-175758.html thought it looked pretty neat.

Regarding the body lift i would definitely recommend it, pretty easy to do and obviously a lot better for articulation.

Well it does look awesome! :)

Same as mine. Slow.

Looks really good though mate. Think I may pinch an idea or 2 anorl. Not sure I will use tubular though just something slimline. And utilise the chassis as a recovery point ;) (can get rid of the towbar then), maybe high lift jack point too.

It does look simple. And gives the option of larger tyres. :) which is never a bad thing.

Cheers mate. I did think to keep it as it was when i plated it up and just add some recovery points but you'll probably notice when you do your lift there's quite a gap between the boot floor level and the top of the chassis so i wanted something there to protect the fuel tank. Will just get a bridle and keep the jate rings in the tow bar mounts for recovery now.

Little update as well, fitted the rear light guards this evening. No photos though as i forgot!

I'm up for meeting for some laning as I'm not too far away from you.

We would still need a leader though as I have only been a couple of times.

Also my 90 isn't quite back on the road yet, but should be in a couple of weeks or so.

Soon as you're back on the road we'll have to arrange something mate. Taken in out for a little spin already but i want to get out and see what it can really do.

Just joined the panddlrc so i'll be taking myself along to some of there events as well.

So then, not updated this in a few weeks. Lets start off with the shiney bits. Ordered myself some 3 degree castor corrected radius arms and some double cranked trailing arms couple of week ago.:D

Then for some sudden reason the landy kept cutting out on me when ever i tried changing down gears i.e coming up to junctions. Basically felt like it had no power and wouldn't hold at idle. Slightly depressed me so didn't touch it for a couple of weeks after that. Yesterday came and was determined to get it sorted so i got me brother round and did a bit of fault finding. Took ages turning over before it fired up then checked a few things whilst it was running, didn't take long before it cut out again though. Thought it was fuel related so started with the fuel filter, unscrewed it and looked fine, diesel was clean. There wasn't much diesel in the tank though (just out of the red on the fuel gauge) so wondered if that was contributing to the issue. Didn't want to go and blow a load of money on expensive parts that might not be the issue so started off with the cheapest thing, the fuel filter. Also got 20ltr Jerry Can and some fuel line cleaner. Filled it up, changed fuel filter and it started straight away. Seems to good to be true but touch wood thats it fixed.

The rest of the day was supposed to be used to put the new shiney bits on but in my excitement of getting it running again i swiftly went out and did a couple of simple lanes near me :)

Today i started on the radius arms, both are now off but could i balls get the new ones back on. Probably some easy way of doing it but in true male style i just went straight in instead of looking up how to do it

It also seems like my little play about yesterday has made the nearside rear spring nearly pop out as well.

Naturally i only found this after i had got the front of the truck on axle stands and the radius arms out :doh::doh:

Just about to order some re-location cones

Will now be a job for next weekend to finish off!

Cheers

Ben

I fitted my cones ass this kept happening to mine n was doin me nut it popping them back in so fitted and not happened since.took bout hour to do both

Ratchet straps before you remove old arms keeps axle in position! Try ratcheting it with one until it fits.

Just been thinking about that then. Wish i'd have done that now, think its gunna be a nightmare trying to get them back on now. There's no chance of getting the bushes through the chassis end at the minute. The axle needs twisting and pushing back so might be easier just to undo everything get the axle out then go from there?

Which ones did you go for mate? Thinking of getting the Adrenaline axle mounted ones.

Do it! Literally just fitted mine today as I had spring problems at pay and plays. Here's a pic of em fitted. :)

Very well made, and you has the bits I'm ordering from adrenaline next. Those radius arms and trailing arms look the doggys dangly bits! :D

I literally don't know what has just happened. Managed to convince myself i need a couple of early xmas prezzies so i got a bit carried away.

- terrafirma 2inch springs and shocks
- -2inch rear shock mounts
- rear re-location cones
- -2inch turrets
- front relocation cones

Regarding the arms they are really well made mate. Looking forward to getting them fitted next weekend!

Haha! May have to convince myself to get some early xmas prezzies :p I won't need much convincing mind! :D

Good to hear mate. I like the look of the QT radius arms more but the Adrenaline ones look sooooo much beefier I think they are the better option. Definitely look stronger. And better made, thought through etc.

Make sure you take plenty of pictures when fitted! :D

So my shiney new parts turned up :)

Spent most of today getting the front axle off.

Ended up snipping the copper brake lines to get the damns off!

As with most jobs on the landy you try and sort one thing out and another 10 things to fix spring up straight away. Will be ordering a some front calipers in a minute as mine seem shot to **** to say the least. Spent the evening cleaning the axle up ready for putting it back on next weekend. Me new springs and shocks haven't arrived yet so looks like it'll be a day of painting and general faffing tomorrow.

Cheers

Ben

Well after today i'm quite glad i took the front axle off. Looks like i'll be doing a bit more than i ever envisaged but at least ill now it's sound when i put the axle back on. See if you can see the problems :(

Nearside swivel

Fist time i've had an axle apart so don't really know what it 'should look like' but i know it shouldn't be like that. The bearings wouldn't even move.

Not sure if the offside should like this:

After cleaning it all up looks like the offside has been done recently as the swivels are different colours. Might be mistaken but are the new ones darker in colour not chrome coloured? Either way i'm going to refurb both sides. The nearside is pitted to **** so looks like ill be ordering a new one. Just want to know what people thoughts are on the state of the CV joint, reckon it can be saved?

All the splines are fine. Think now i've come this far i'm also going to open the diff just to see what state thats in.

Cheers

Ben

Where did your swivel grease go! Cv looks pretty dry, not good for them to go like that. I would replace it but if you are bladdered just grease the feck out of it with moly and make sure swivel filled after!

I have no idea! Is there anyway to dismantle the the CV to pack it properly or are they one unit? At the minute it doesn't feel rough when its rotated, feels the same as the 'well lube up one'.

cvs can be dismantled but if used best put back together as was as parts have run in , you just prise cage over to one side until a ball can be released then move on to the next ball , though you just apply some grease and fit in axle it will grease it self from what you pour in swivel

Thanks James. Will just try and clean it up a little without dismantling.
