Can Range Rover section be split

I personally do not understand why the engines are split like that, I assume it was a UK thing.
In regard to the L322 section not being used, that is what they would have said about the P38 section a few years ago. As they get older and cheaper, people buy them who will attempt to maintain them themselves. At this point they will be on a forum asking questions.
