 Is this just a nightmare in waiting or is it possible to put windows in the back of my defender van with a view to putting rear seating in, in the future?
I don't really want to sell it to buy a county as the one I have is simply ace... What are the pit falls and are there any benefits other then the obvious...

It's simple enough. Just mark out, cut and fit the windows. Or, buy side panels with windows already fitted.

You can physically add seating in the back but I'm not sure where you stand with insurance etc if you do.

Its easy to do.

Might I suggest the search facility next time (to save some of the others throwing and arse)

Its a bit nerve wracking taking a jigsaw or knibbler etc to your panels but measure a million times and cut once and you will be fine.

Installing seats in the back is a minefield and i would recommend you search for that info, look for forward faces proper ones if you want to stay on the correct side of the law.

it used to be complicated by purchase tax liability , not any more , as posted there are several window fitment options. The seating is more opf a problem , as to make use safely they need to be forward facing and securely fitted , and have seatbelts . I would suggest a fold sideward set up type seat to retain the van advantages . Ebay can be a source of ex ambulance or minibus type seats that are cheaper than ex puma seats. HTSH

I don't want to do to much damage, its a lovely 09 plate Stornaway metallic but only 15k miles so its pretty immaculate...

I've mounted some bucket seats facing backwards with three point harnesses, I ran the idea past a local traffic copper who couldn't see the problem (he pointed out that its actually the safest way to travel). My local MOT centre just raised the issue of ensuring they are securely mounted.

- also looking and windows, the Masai panoramic look the Nuts but at £500 they should be !

get the pukka puma seats, and buy another set of side panels (they are always coming up on ebay) get them painted and that way you still have the originals.

Bet your looking at the good end of £1200 - £1400 all in though.

buy a 110! haha
