hi guys doing a 200 conversion on a c reg 90, 2.5na, iv pretty much sorted everything, only thing I need help with is the exhaust,
iv bought the conversion kit which comes with the down pipe off the turbo, but I don't know what I need in terms of front pipe, middle box and back box ?
on paddocks, iv seen 200tdi 90 one and 19j 90 ones, the 200 are more expensive ? any ideas !

oh sorry, yes I ment the 19j exhaust system, im not sue ? the downpipe is the funny looking one that comes in the kit on fleabay

Hi,

I've just done a 200tdi conversion on a 2.5 NA diesel 110. In terms of the exhaust I fitted a 300tdi exhaust straight off the downpipe. It is a slightly larger diameter than the 200tdi exhaust (which is a good thing) and is also cheaper than the 200tdi. You just need to fabricate new hangers as they are slightly different.

Cheers Dan

hi thanks for that, when you say its a larger diameter, will it still clamp down around the conversion dowpipe ? iv seen some kits that come with 2 halfs of the down pipe, I only have the top half ...

My manifold down pipe ended at chassis rail level - I got the full exhaust for a 300, including the downpipe. I cut the manifold flange off the vertical part of the pipe - this was then a snug fit over the drop pipe. I then had to shorten the horizontal part of the 300 downpipe by cutting and forming a sleeve joint (had the flare done by a specialist exhaust company) Hope that makes sense !

I didn't use the conversion downpipe kit, I fabricated my own. I can check the 300tdi diameter and let you know as I still have flange bit I cut off.

that sounds a little over complicated ? I was hoping just to fit a 200 exhaust system and maybe make a bracket or two ? just I don't want to spend £££ as its already cost me an arm

I think I paid £50 all in for the new exhaust and bits (buying the 3 separate pipes off 3 different sellers at a landy autojumble)

Just measured the 300tdi exhaust, I would say circa 60mm OD and 57mm ID if that helps.

Just checked again and the complete 300 (non cat) exhausts are generally £10 - 15 cheaper than the 200tdi ones.

Good luck

I assumed you were talking about this kit:

If you are, then it's designed to fit to the TD Exhaust system, not the 200 TDI. It uses two exhaust clamps. One connects the two pieces you see in the picture, the second is used to connect to the intermediate pipe.

If you are able to weld like DRP73, you can knock together a custom pipe based on the 200 or 300 TDI. You will also need to fabricate hangers.

If your abilities are limited to bolting stuff together (like me), then you're best bet is the TD exhaust with a kit like the one linked.

hi there, I can weld bits, but the kit iv bought only comes with the top half of that exhaust, so I thibnk the td exhaust will bolt straight too that ? but yeh id rather pay £10 more and have to not weld any bits !

It won't fit in that case. The bottom 90 degree piece is needed to connect to the standard TD system. The 90 degree piece connects to the small straight intermediate pipe which needs be trimmed to size. These joins are done with exhaust clamps. The remainder of the system is the standard TD and all the joins are done with olives. I guess you could use a piece of flexi in it's place.
