Hi guys,
This year I will hopfully be the proud owner of my first Landy but although I've loved landy's and defenders in particular for years I must confess i'm not to sure what i'm looking for when it comes to buying them.

I can't find a 'buyers guide' any where on the tinternet so hopfully someone here can help.

I'm looking to spend about £7000 on a Defender 90 stationwagon.

Thanks in advance
Sleepy

Someone did a "what to look for" list on here a bit back, someone else did a link to it recently, can't remember who either of them was but try Wesley Pegden for the list. If I get a chance I'll look for it and repost the link. If I don't try a search.

Hey up floppy how yer doing?

You might even be able to get a TD5 for £7000.

Jeeps arnt even perminent 4x4! Landys are 4 or 5 leagues above them! :p
Here in the U.S. landys are not 4x4, they are All Wheel Drive with high and low range. Jeeps are 4x4, and anything that does the whole move power from wheels that slip to wheels that grip have traction control.

The new Discos and Rangrovers use the brakes on the wheels with no traction dont they? Do newer Jeeps do that?

Rich.
I don't know about the newer Jeeps, but I doubt it, I don't have any interest in anything later than 1985 for off road use. The new Jeeps are like new landrovers; cost too much to use as an off road vehicle. One of the nice things about the jeeps t-case is that they can be converted to twin stick. This allows you to choose where your 2wd is, i.e. front, rear. Real handy when trying to make sharp corners on the trail as you can lock the park brake and switch to fwd and drag the rear wheels around a tree or rock in the trail.
