Brim to brim checks or the prone to exaggeration dash computer?

plus 1 with regards to the lie o meter ,lol, mines around 10% + out, as indeed done the same with regards to brimming the tank, I get an average of 30 Mpg on a run

however it really goes nuts in the winter on the first 30 x mins it will show 9.0 mpg , the FBH is on below 7C , but brimming the tank im actually doing 18mpg around town , after 30 x mins the screen will then show 20 mpg

on the D4 I believe u can offset the MPG display by the certain % that Its out using diagnostics, wonder if u can do the same on the later 2010 onwards FFRR

My display is about 20% over egging it.. brim to brim i get about 25mpg
I think you can change the % but my diag says there's no valid ccf

plus 1 on mine in not able to change the % when using diagnostics ,alas only have knowledge about the D4 being able to change the offset

If the feature is there, it was designed to be there and so should provide accurate information. If it could be done in the 80's why not on the more modern stuff?
progress!

people dont want to know how much fuel they're using just top it up when the light comes on!!! if you work out a value based on lots of bunkum.. then people can feel warm and fuzzy

It's all about marketing, when Johnny goes down the pub, he can boast that his over size, overweight, over complicated truck with it's massive engine is more economical than Fred's Ford Feckarse.

I don't expect miracles and i know other 'suv' get similar milage with smaller engines, but I'm still sure mine should do better than it does, though it doesn't smoke and there's no leak.. maybe the tyres are taking a bigger chunk than you might think

200tdi (tuned) RRC gives over 30mpg on Irish back roads and grabber ATs. Towing a 2.5t boat gives about 20 (lots of big hills). Mud terrains give somewhere between (not towing). Past experience of TD5 defenders on oversize wheels and mud terrains, towing, leaves the memory of watching the fuel guage move ever downwards
