Can i suggest you buy a head gasket set and fit it yourself, I did i am not a mechanic and was able to do it not as difficult as it looks,if you do it you need to skim your heads, 2 heads skimmed cost me 60 quid, gasket set about 50 quid,

I'm a girl and i drive a disco, just got a load of bits to bolt on at Peterborough Show for my birthday

If you are close to Chesterfield then there is a good independent called cavendish workshops 01246 229100. They did my wheel bearings for a fair price and seem like a good bunch.

Hi i ve used irontite about 18 months ago it worked up until 19 th of july 2011 then yep you gest it the liner/s slipped , 4 days before hols, well iwanted to keep the beast so i ve had the whole engine done , new top hat block etc etc but try irontite but if you keep the car expect the engine to go some time .

mucky truka

give maltings 4x4 a ring on 01427 753394 (they are in westwoodside, between Doncaster & Epworth) and speak to one of the chaps there (Andy's the guv and there's nothing he doesn't know about LR). They are indy LR and can do anything on everything from a 1948 series I right up to the new Range rover - prices aren't bad either.

They will be able to deffo tell you if it's the head or the gasket and you can go from there

I had the heads done on my old 4.0 LPG engine last year, but it still kept pressurising afterwards. I used Irontite and it cured the problem for a few months but ended up using 16 litres of water to cover the 30 mile trip to work and the same on the way home. I swear she was steam driven for a month or two.
It might work if you catch it early enough for small things and for the money it is definately worth a go. Sadly mine turned out the block/liner had cracked on mine so found a replacement engine and so far so good. Good Luck
:D:D
