Hi guys

My 4.6 HSE went in for her service yesterday..I mentioned to the guy that I had noticed the tem guage sneeking upto the 3/4 mark but not going into the red. He did a block test and said the colour changed slightly and said he suspected the head was starting to go?

Has anyoune heard of a product that is added to the cooling system called IRONTIGHT?

Can anyone recommend a good specialist or mechanic that can complete the work at a reasonable rate in South Yorkshire Worksop/Sheffield area?:doh::doh::doh::mad:

How long do you want to keep the car?

Quick fixes are great if it's next appearance is on ebay.

I'm sure there will be some who come on to say it's the best thing since sliced bread but, will you ever feel confident driving it any distance?

If the head is porous or cracked irontite might work. If the head gasket is beginning to break down and you have cylinder gas weaping into the coolant system (normally worst when the engine is under load) it most likely will not work....the sniff test the garage did for you suggests the later.
Either way, its still a bit of a bodge. Better to save your money and get a new head gasket set (about the same price as irontite)

That stuff will f@@k up your radiator and the grit will eat your water pump and it seals in it.
Fix it right now and it will save you money later? Don't be a fool, quick fix never work.
But it's your car, your choice, your money, you have to live by your choice!!!!!!

Cheers for that

I luv me truck so keepin it...can't explain why

She's only done 83000 with a service history you wouldn't believe.. I am so gutted.

Typical women cover her with love and attention...& she still lets yer down!

i used irontite on mine lasted 7 months still had to put a engine in it, and a rad and water pump but it keeped me on the road for tht time ..

Only 7 months.. They are avertising it as a permenant fix!! rebuild or new engine it is then:confused::doh:

Is there a shortage of rangey specialists in South Yorkshire!!

Don't believe everything you read in the snake oil adverts. Does a job as a temp fix in some cases, but temp is all it can ever be. Only proper way is to find cause and fix it.

you can get a tested short engine for £500 you just need to know where to look, when you start looking for one send me a pm i will do all i can to help you ..
