Some how I managed to brake the tie bar on the steering box whilst doing a three point turn to get out of the work car park. I didn't think much of the clunk at the time but a hundred yards down the road it felt like I had square wheels. I guess the axle was shaking around cos it was insane!

After getting the rac home I whipped it off in the dark to try and get a replacement. As far as I can see it's one of these http://www.paddockspares.com/anr2994-tie-bar.html
But as it has broken once is it a part I need to be wary of and not buy the bogstandard one?

I can have a look I might have one kicking about I'm in Luton down the road. Won't know until tomorrow tho

WOW! That is actually quite impressive! I dare say it was cracked beforehand, maybe even broken as the break doesn't look like fresh metal and may have been clamped in by the washer.

Also no, don't worry about getting another the same, that is an odd bit to break! I am suspect, maybe someone has knocked lumps out of it sometime earlier and fractured it.

Dan Also have a look at Hertfordshire Lanes (We're mostly all from Luton Beds.

We have a pub meet on the A5 every first Wednesday of the month we organise greenlaning trips, offroad days and some of us take part in competition.

Thanks jai. Once I'm back on the road, if I can last more than a week, I'd like to get out some more. Bit worried about my noob level land rover skills.

Disco your right it was already fractured. Infact 90% of the material was split from both sides leaving a tiny strip holding on in the middle.

Tell me about it was crazy just under braking from 20 mph. Couldnt quite work out what was happening though

All fixed, new one and bolts for £32 and I got it on in the daylight. Maiden trip to Rogers of Bedford don't think it will be the last. Especially after closer inspection of my bushes  Any advice on replacing them?

Depends what you want polys are easy to fit but I hate them. I only use std items and they last fine without the harsh ride of polys.

I have been toying with the idea of rebushing sets of arms of which I have plenty spare (12 sets) and do exchange for old ones that way there is no down time of motor just undo and refit. If its something your interested in let me know.

Easy with a press and press tools. People burn them out I've seen people break vices and lots of cocking about right tools its a 10
Min job.

hmm sounds tempting, although I like a challenge/fire. Plus I like to do as much as I can I learn better that way.

No worries ideally you need to press the old ones out and press in the new ones.

If you go polys then the only ball ache is getting the old ones out then fitting new is dead easy but I hate polys with a passion.

Lol. Is it the bright colours :p I'm hoping to get the 110 to a stage where it can be a good expedition vehicle for mountainbiking and hiking meaning a lot of long distance road. From what you've said polybush might not be the best for ride?
What's this website?

I'd fit new genuine bushes myself polys I hate others disagree in my experience they wear out quickly if stressed alot Offroad driving but the upside can be changed in seconds instead of pressing out a proper bush.

I usually fit a new bolt kit from paddocks and genuine bushes. I have jut done my 90 front bushes.

There is quite alot online about different methods of bush removal have a butchers as see what works

Well I need them one way or a other. If you could benefit from some good word on your website I could definitely benefit from your experience. If I came over to pick them up would you consider taking a look over my car and giving a youngster a point in the right direction?
