Disco 2 Britpart shocks

My work colleague has just bought an ‘03 TD5. It had a 2” lift kit on it but I have just helped him change the suspension back to standard height. He bought Britpart standard springs and shocks.

When I have bought shocks in the past, once pushed in, they slowly extend to their maximum length; the new Britpart ones didn’t! Is this normal?

Only ever done shocks on a D1 but they needed priming before fitting - just gently push them in and out a couple of times and then fit. I never noticed them extending to maximum length after priming. Might be different on D3 though.

Mine, I cannot remember brand , may have been BP, extended back out to the maximum length , had to close them up and tie them to get into place and then cut the string once in place. Was it very cold when you were fitting them?

Standard dampers will require priming pushing in and pulling out the rod only 3 or 4 times, especially if they have be laying down for a few month. Its the dampers that have a pocket of gas inside that when the retaining strap is cut extend and are a bit of a pain pushing it back .

Which type of Britpart dampers are they?
The Britpart Supergaz definitely should extend out to full length on their own due to the internal gas pressure.
Not sure whether the Britpart Cellular Dynamics versions do though. They have some sort of closed cell foam in them as a cheap alternative to pressurised gas.
