Just a quick note to inform all Defender owners of a Britpart issue.
I have been renovating my wife's 110 TDi300, particularly the cooling system.
I replaced all the major components but the bottom hose is the subject of this notice;
Unlike the original all-rubber one, the replacement is made of several hoses with plastic joiners and jubilee clips. I was hesitant when I fitted this about 6 months ago, but last night my wife came home with high temp gauge and oil pressure warnings !!!
I quick check revealed that one of the hoses had parted company with it's joiner and allowed the water pump to pump out all the coolant.
I've re-installed the original rubber hose after checking it and left the engine to cool down overnight. This afternoon I'll be re-filling the coolant and checking everything.
I have never had a problem with Britpart pieces before, but this time the consequences could be nasty - let's hope not !!!!!
