Brake issue driving me mad

not unheard of now if servo rod is adjusted too long,the brakes gradually apply,until you release servo vac
 
Was starting to wounder if it was master cylinder not pulling back as it should. Abs would keep on all the time? Freewheeling is no problem which is the annoying thing. The car shakes after a while but this is the same time the discs get hot but brand new discs and pads new hoses and new Pistons in calipers
 
Does this pipe need replacing does it reset it's self? Sorry for all questions just doing my head in now is this problem

pipe isnt the problem pulling it away just releases the vac, it fits in a rubber grommet/seal in servo so breaking the seal releases the vac
 
I had a bit of this problem when the garage change my brake pipes because I could not do it because at that time I had a new knee and could not do it they had filled the brake fluid right up to the top of the master cylinder I took some out and the problem which was a sticking caliper , at first I noticed my brakes seemed very hard and I though there was a problem with the vacuum pipes but no this was the problem .
I went back and told them about it they said the apprentice had filled it so I pointed out to him that there are 2 marks on the master cylinder and they are there for a reason do not go over the top one.

If it does solve the problem, then you might be able to adjust the rod slightly as some are threaded. Some aren't however, in which case a replacement servo may be needed.
 
Update taken the vac pipe off and was a shiss of air when pip came out took car for a drive down a back street stopped with hand break was not traveling fast and discs still hot! Loosing the will to live at the moment
 
Ok, just done a quick test. In the works transit tipper. Yes I know it's not a freelander!
Brakes cool. Been stood for about 30 minutes. Driven 2 miles a low speed. Stopped, got out and gobbed on the brakes!!! And it fizzled like a mad fizzley thing. (things I do for this forum!) Are you sure your not getting a bit hung up on this?

If you can turn the wheels by hand with the brakes feeling hot, then there isn't much wrong with them. If you can't turn the wheels, then they binding and need looking at.
 
Well today been to LR specialist and cause of the juddering wanted to make sure was not the vcu so have taken prop off. And juddering still there. Abs as been disabled to see if that was apply on its own. Yet again no Change juddering and heat. Heat does not bother me if they did not get to the point where They expand and it's causing the car to judder it's starting to get me so pigged off with it that I don't know what to do next. Had a mate follow me I'm a facelift freelander same as mine stone cold discs and stopped same place same distance traveled and his was half the heat as mine
 
Got a quick question pre 2001 caliper carrier had same size slide pins in top and bottom is that correct?
2002-2006 had the long and small one with rubber on. What the chance someone has has been given wrong caliper carriers and they are pre 01 with 02-06 slide pins in. Would not work the same??

Given what you have done so far, I would replace one caliper and see if that fixes the issue on that side. for just over £30 its not too much to shell out

just took a quick pic , these pins are from my 2002 , with ventilated discs
