Bonnet soundproofing

Pics would be good

Was looking at the seat boxes earlier. I think i'm going to line the physical box/well inside too, then on top under the seat making sure I go over the join/gaps. If I have spare foam, i'll do under the lid too (if I can then remove it easy enough) so it'll be double-thick in places.

What like these?

You will see the cab was washed out and cleaned with thinners, then the matting goes in, then the soundproofing with the carpet over top.

The can noise has come down from 88-90db at 55-60mph to a flat 80. To put this in perspective 90db can damage your ears permanently after 3 hours exposure on a regular basis. 80db should not cause any damage.

So yes its worked, but I have not finished, I have the rear tub and roof to do now, this should knock a few DB off.

It's still noisy, but all the crap noise has gone. Just need to get the Tub rumble and bell sounds to go.

Think I would need to tackle water ingress in mine first. I get puddles of water in the foot wells when it rains.
I would like to know how the Paddock sound proofing preforms. The sound proofing is about £99 and the carpets are about the same. I was hoping from this post to get some feed back but everyone on here seem to have gone the DIY rout.

Go buy one then, thats the way to find out, I got a DB Meter for £7. But the noise on mine was mainly bulk head/firewall and floor/transmission tunnel.

Don't all Land Rovers leak?

Now i've put the silent coat under the bonnet, the majority of noise is coming through the above (bulk head, floor, seats and tunnel)

I do quiet like the sound of my 200TDI lazily rattling away under the bonnet. I will wait till Peterborough and see what's there. Then I won't have to pay shipping cost.

Yep, I was surprised how much of a difference it actually made. There's now just a dull hum from the engine. However, two tiles have fallen off so get some good strong sticky stuff!

By deadening one source of sound, you just push it down the scale and something else becomes more audible. Never ending. At the moment, it's the tunnel and engine bulkhead (behind dash but too much of a fiddle to sort out).

Just fitted a Bonnet insulation pad on my 110, 200tdi. When I first saw the pad it looked a bit thin to what I was expecting. At first I thought I had wasted £79. However I fitted it in a few minutes., 6 screws and large washers. Took it for a test drive and there is a noticeable difference. I seem to have lost that tinny echoing sound that comes from under the bonnet. The noise reduction goes right across the range from ticking over to motoring along at 70 mph. I think I will be able to have a conversation without having to shout. Might even hear the CB this time. Even with the front vents open engine noise is reduced. Happy with my purchase.

Which pad did you buy? I was thinking of one to go over the dynamat stuff

could probably go to a scrappy and take the bonnet insulation, cut and fix it on the landy. will be cheap

I couldn't be bothered messing about. I wanted something that was going to be easy to fit and designed for the job as I am off to Morocco again next spring. I don't want bits falling off with all the vibration and bumps. I went for the below.
