OK so I went to take my truck up to the garage this morning for some new tyres, get in, discover the throttle is stuck, apply a bit of pressure and it goes down and stays down and won't come back up, "oh bugger its frozen" were my first thoughts, so I go to open the bonnet to free it up a bit and it would appear the cable for the bonnet latch is also frozen, its always been a bit stiff be now it won't move at all. Any bright ideas? is there a way to get the bonnet catch open without using the cable? take the front grill off or something?

Not up to scratch on defenders. Where's the bonnet catch cable? What's stopping you from putting a little water over it?
Yeah that was my first idea, not sure I can get at it though, the handle in the cab is by my left knee and it runs through the bulkhead from there, rest of it is under the bonnet.

Front grille off, cover in GT85 / WD40 which should melt it if frozen ?
Yeah as above I dunno if I can get at it, if its just the catch that's frozen that should work but I'm wondering if the cable has moisture in and is frozen to the sheath

if you remove the grill you can operate the latch with a screw driver or similar

Solved. Thanks all, grill off, bonnet open and a combination of hot water on the sheath and wd40. Prob a new throttle cable in order but at least its functional now!
