So to recap..... the great and glorious combined wisdom on this site can come up with........

1) Empathy- someone else has managed to do it too

2) jiggle it

3) pull steering wheel really hard

good to know I can rely on you lot when the chips are down:rolleyes:

Well 110w ya know how much I would like to stay and give ya support on this fred but its me and pikeys bedtime. :D

you should have posted from the car park saying your stuck - you'd have had a hoard of eager blokes descend on your location offering to jiggle it for you, perhaps with much quicker results

you could have written out a big list of questions to ask when they arrived, such as how does me DL work and where's the interior light switch

 :D

Last time I listen to you lot:mad:

Decided to beef up security after reading posts- started to lock it  and thought I'd go one step further and get a disklok.

So it arrived today- practiced at home getting it on and off ( bloody heavy isn't it !)

Off I set to sainsburys, after a crap day at work, with a car full of whining kids ( my cup runneth over ! )

Remembered more advice - put steering lock on b4 fitting disklok ( despite never having done so in tenyears coz it's too heavy to haul wheel round ) so did so......

one hour later, beast ful of kids, shopping and with stress levels reaching stratosphere to find...........

once i'd taken off disklok I couldnt turn the feckin key- ten minutes later, key out, back in, key wiggled, wheel shifted, wobbled, wheel shook, read manual ( no bloody help)key shouted at, cried and whole thing prayed over, decided to do sensible thing and find a man:eek:

two men later and another 15 mins later some how it came off - (we dont know what we did )and all was well and off we set for home.

two gins later and feeling a bit better but

1) What did I do wrong ?

2) How do I not do it again ?

3) If I do it again how do I get the steering wheel lock off myself without going thu all that ?

You've encountered the classic problem of the steering lock blocking the key turning.
Solution is to apply pressure to the steering wheel the direction it went to lock. This will ease the pressure and allow you to release it using the key in the ignition.

To be honest you don't need to put the steering lock on with the disklok.
It's just an added hinderance factor for criminals.

Trust me you DO want to lock the steering hard over.;)
