Bleeding brakes on Discovery 2

I foolishly decided to bleed the brakes on my Discovery 2 on Sunday (as they were getting soft). I followed the Haynes Manual. I had a helper pump the brake a couple of times, then hold it down as I released the bleed nut and let air/fluid come out. I repeated until no more air/bubbles came out. I did all the wheels and the bleed nuts were on pretty firm so I had to use a freeing fluid to loosen them so it was pretty clear they hadn't been bleed for a while. However, I ended up with brakes that were worst than before? Searching online I see that maybe I have to do something with the ABS module? I bought a pressure bleeder to have a go again. Very strange as I bleed the brakes without a pressure bleeder on my none ABS 300 TDI a number of times.

Any advice?

usually bleed up fine , o replaced a d2 modulator the other day and just bled as normal ie a jar pipe and someone pumping the pedal

i find it best to close bleed nipple before letting pedal up then open for the next, but if no air was coming out its bled, bleed it normally not by pumping then opening the nipple

Sorry James I'm not following you.

"i find it best to close bleed nipple before letting pedal up then open for the next, but if no air was coming out its bled,

bleed it normally not by pumping then opening the nipple"

So

have the helper press down the brake
open the nipple and bleed
close when flow stops
repeat above until no air comes out
No pumping of the brake before opening of the nipple just a press down?

open the nipple ,press pedal down ,close nipple, let pedal up repeat till clear fluid runs,

I try and tighten the bleed screw on the down stroke of the pedal as the fluid is coming out. Not when it stops.

It was mainly for the power bleeding function that I bought my Britpart lynx. I bled brakes as normal and then finished off with a power bleed. Although I recently changed some brake lines and flexible hoses and just bled it normally and it was fine.

The good practice IMO is to power bleed it first with all the nipples opened then close them and do the pedal bleed in the proper sequence(provided work was done above or with the modulator as air could have entered in it) no need for power bleed if work was done only below the modulator or at the calipers and the tank didnt get empty)...the explanation is here: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/obd-protocols-td5.37896/#post-4297698
