L322 binding brakes... random and frustrating.

Hi all! so my L322, 03 plate, BMW 6, 3l has developed a new problem in the last couple of weeks and we are struggling to diagnose it. After a year of trouble free motoring [yes really] i found the OS rear wheel was hot after a short journey. garage got it up on the ramp and told me the handbrake had fallen apart and dropped a pad so disconnected it and ordered parts. The problem didnt go away but the wheel continued to get hot. still waiting on handbrake parts we replaced the calliper and that seemed to solve the problem for a day or so but now its back with the new calliper and the NS front is binding as well....

Whats going on???????
 
Hoses collapsed internally? They should be changed at 6 years old anyway, so that a good place to start. Also were the caliper brackets cleaned and de-rusted where the pads fit? So many garages simply pull out the old pads, and force in the new pads, without any thought as to how the pads are supposed to move away from the rotor once the pedal is released.

good call on the hoses, im suspicious something isnt right in one of the common blocks, abs unit or something like that... or 2 similar faults in one week is just coincidence!
 
Is it possible that having replace the one calliper the ns has now pushed its piston (which might have been rusted in place or crap on it or what ever) so it has now locked in place. Either way it looks as if your gonna have to strip down that calliper as well, Can I assume they did the both sides, if not they should have, always do brakes in pairs. Oil Flush ?

Itssss possible.... but its been a regular driver, every day, mixed journeys, long short, motorway, b road.... no probs at all then suddenly binding breaks. We only changed the off side rear calliper, mainly cos i needed to use it! ... oil flush hmmmmm

It's not so much the use that is the problem, more like if the calliper piston's gasket has perished over time which allows water in, the chrome on the piston rusts, seizes the piston, done quite a few over my many years (yep I'm an old geezer) finally came to my senses and stopped putting repair kits on and just get new callipers now. Anyways all the advice I have heard and read from the more experienced is always change brake pads in pairs to ensure equal braking force, sounds daft but even things like having one calliper nice shiny new and the other all crapped up with grime and rust affects how the calliper slides thus giving uneven braking, dangerous on wet roads, get that other calliper off asap and cleaned up and checked out with new pads.

Good afternoon, just wondering if you got a definitive solution to your binding brake issue? I need to address mine so any pointers are much appreciated .

Rear brake callipers removed and replaced as piston was seized on one side also new pads fitted. Road tested with no squeaks or binding so happy days. Job done.
