Today removed the seats to get to the top of the chassis

The gear box was covered in the tractor oil that the previous owner thought would be suitable in the landy, so that got cleaned up

Painted the top of the chassis and had to do a bit of welding I thought I'd finished last week

This morning cleaned up the rear axle and associated bits

Then I painted the rest of the chassis, but it was to dark for pics when I'd finished

If I can persuade mrs b to let me play outside tomorrow, hopefully I can get it back on its wheels:)
 
Cleaned up the rear wheels first thing and got some paint on them

Put the new springs on the axle

I don't know if it was the hd springs,but getting the axle on took 2hours it was an absolute ####

We just couldn't get it lined up, we had to jack it in with 2 jacks a **** load of blocks

But eventually after the entire landy nearly ended up on the floor it was hit into place

Finally finished painting the chassis

Just need to order up something to spray the inside of the chassis, I was going to go for waxoyl but there are a million threads with different opinions, but I would appreciate any advice from someone with first hand experience
 
When I did the old chassis I drilled extra holes and poured a waxoyl / used engine oil mix in. I also sprayed loads of the mix in the chassis and the bulkhead. In total I used 3 gallons of waxoyl and 2 used engine oil - but it was everywhere! When it's warm the doors still drip it out after 3 years!!!!!!!!

Thanks bluehaze, ive tried looking for a thread on your rebuild just to see where you drilled the exra holes but cant find one, what did you use on the outside ?

Covered the whole chassis in hammerite and then in the waxoyl / oil mix.
 
Spent most of today cleaning and painting started with the thermostat housing and vacuum pump

Cleaned up the header tank and decided that it looked pretty cool with a brass finish

Uncle taught me how to adjust the tappets which apparently were fookin miles out

Then I cleaned, primed and painted the fuel tank

Hopefully with the lighter evenings I can get the tub cleaned up ready for painting :cool:
 
Hi there, really great post, I always forget to take pictures when I am working and only remember when I am finished! Looking at the pictures of the refitted rear axle I am pretty sure you have got the A frame brackets upside down. This may explain why you had so much trouble refitting it. Keep up the good work, Andy :)

Can someone take a look and back up Andys theory, I didn't think it was possible to fit them upside down :confused:

But I wouldn't put it past me, it wouldn't be the first thing that I've fitted more than once
