Was going to do a small bit of welding in the garage, and my auto darkening helmet didn’t!!!

The white spots have now gone.

Got the filter bit apart and there’s 2 x 3v batteries in there.
Tested with meter - 2.5v each.

So,
Just priced up on fleabay
Choices...

Replace batteries £3 - 4 each.
New filter unit from China £7
Or new helmet £22quid ish??

They’re soldered in. :(

Still, I think it’s the best option for now.

Tool station has SIP auto darkening helmets for £37, yes I know they're a bit more than the £22 ones but at least they're local (I make the assumption that you have one locally?) and as long as you keeps the receipt you can pop it back and within warranty you'll get a new one on the spot. Having said that I have seen the SIP ones in Halfrauds for same money.

Must admit, I've been looking at the auto darkening glasses, be rubbish for anything overhead but they look OK for horizontal and vertical stuff.

They do I was in there tonight. I hope you don't have sand in your eyes when you go to bed tonight. I've done it a few times and sure mine even has a filter to prevent arc eye. I stupidly took the plastic replaceable guard off mine thinking it was just for grinding. I'll replace mine at some point but can still see ok. I'll get sip too I think. Those ray Charles hobbies won't stop your beard from setting a light :D

I'm not Kieth Fenner (if you don't know his work then look him up on YouTube ;))

Was looking for them being modelled by Stevie Wonder .......

Still look like a good thing to have in the cupboard for that day when the good mask craps out at the most in opportune moment :)

Had this a while in the garage. Got it from Froggets when Ebay had 20% off voucher.

Gave it first coat red yesterday, went to seam seal some of the panels today and the paint is still wet in places !!

It makes so much difference if you heat gun that red for a bit of time afterwards.

I've taken to warming the steel first and then painting with a post of post paint heat to help it dry, although it ends up having all week to dry as I really only get Sunday to play :(

Nice inner wing there Chris, I did both on mine years ago and it's so satisfying to know they'll last the life of the vehicle once done :)

A bit of potching around today.

Cleaned and primed front wing brake hose bracket.

Fettled some little brackets for the rear crossmember carpet trim thing, and painted them red.
