Big old dent in my drivers door!

Hello all,

Some oik has decided it would be wise to either kick or knee my drivers door causing a large dent, the paint is not damaged and the crease is about 12" across

I dont want to pay a fortune to get it fixed nor do i want to claim on the insurance, i have noticed a few diy things about the place but has anybody got any ideas on these glass holding suction cup things, would they work if i got one as they are only a few quid?

i know i know a good old landrover should have a dent or 2 but i would prefer them to be done by me!

try taking the door card orf then biff it out from the inside

do it bit at a time with a small hammer, it'll end up like father teds rover

So if i take the internal door gubbings off then it's straight down to the skin? i thought it would be double skinned? If not then to repair should be fairly easy with my trusty rubber hammer.

However, i did like the compressed air and hairdryer method, might just give it a go!!!

a heat gun followed by a co2 fire extinguisher might work better for a big dent.

Wouldnt use a hammer at all! If it was someones knee that pushed it in then you want to push the dent out on the crease line from the inside. The vaccuum cups wouldnt pull in the right place - on the crease - so might deform the door more. A piece of wood and some gentle pressure should suffice.

Thank you all. I am going to try the taking the inner gubbings off the door and gently knocking a piece of wood first, if that does'nt work im going to use a co2 extinguisher and a hairdryer!!!!!!

don't knock the piece of wood, push on it with another bit o wood, any "knocking" will cause the alloy to stretch and you will not be able to remove the dent at all
