Worked the mpg out the other day, full tank 360miles travelled good mix of motorway, fast A roads and round town, refilled the tank

55 litres so 360 miles for 12 gallons = 30mpg

F*cking result! This was before I adjusted the sticking transmission brake as well  110miles were fully loaded for camping towing a small trailer

Top speed on motorway and fast roads was 60mph but generally 55/57mph. Looking at changing high gearing in transfer box or swap for disco t box in future

Sure someone checked it when it was mentioned and thought it was ok ;):D had the back end jacked up while I did spacers so checked again and found it binding. Spacers lasted 2 days I've taken them off, they're not for me.

Started fitting the scenic seats in the rear, it's going well, be finished tomorrow. Rain stopped play today :(

Do a thread on your caddy van in Other Stuff, I'd follow that!

lol just might do that!, not much left do now though, done all the major stuff, wheel bearings, brakes, discs, dsg fluid change etc
Its an 07 on 138K, engine has never missed a beat, but i do have 1.5km of unmade road ( more like the beach scene from saving private ryant) to my front door so its tough on all our vehicles.

Scary how much our vehicles would cost us if we didn't do all this work ourselves  costs time more than money for parts but I'm guessing most of us enjoy it ;)

I'm surrounded by tarmac it's extremely boring

Yep! I have a few trade accounts and they del within 2 hrs so all good, the drive shaft was £73 (retails £187.50) best from a motor factor is £150 so makes a big difference having the account, and as you say thats just the cost of the part !
Have heaters, coffee machine, TV (connected to diagnostic laptop) beer fridge, and music system so quite happy to play in there all day!

have 4 vehicles in household so, i am kept quite busy!.................to be fair though three of them are myne! The mrs hs a ford galaxy shed with around 187K on it lol

Rear seats fitted today. They're from a mk2 Renault scenic. £60 from scrappy in very good nick :)

I'm not going into extreme detail cuz there ain't much to it. I worked along the lines of 'keep it simple, stupid':D

This is all first fit, will trim steel down and paint when I know it all goes together ;)

Stripped the old bench out to the frame. 50mm x 6mm flat bar across the front and 50mm x 25mm box section across the back

Access to mateys welder is limited and I'm buying new steering arms this month so drill and fix steel to frame with 8mm bolts with washers and nyloc nuts, then pass bolts through original seat rail holes, 2 front, 2 back and fix to steel bars. I did need to open the front holes to 8mm.

It's that simple. I need to make a 'strap' possibly out of tube section with the ends flattened to go from here to here

To stop frame tipping forward as that bracket on truck cab was fixed to old seat back.

I'm confident they're safe for the kids, probably sturdier than original and they fit really well

Looks like I've found the next thing to do!! Looks brilliant. Think it would be possible to fit just the left and right ones? Leave the LR center seat in place?

My bench was split 60/40 mate which is pointless in a double cab cuz you can't tip em forward anyway

Are yours 3 seperate seats then? I'll measure the width of each seat if that'll help you

Mine are 60/40s ideally I'd like to keep the "40" seat in the middle, loose the "60" seats and have Senic seats left and right. Bit extra I know, but no one is ever going to sit in the middle thats bigger than a small child due to the sub on the cubby and the general lack of space.

I agree on the tipping. Absurd if you ask me, the 110 CSWs tip forward! As do 130 pick ups!

I do also have a set of individual seats which I was going to fit + the Exmoor high backs but found they are not child seat compatible (future proofing here) and apparently VERY uncomfortable.

@bankz5152 I might be getting confused what 60/40 means lol
I had a 2 seat bench and a single seat on their own frames, you can see where I dry fitted a new seat where the original single one was with the 2 seat bench still in situ

So unless you have 3 seperate seats i don't think you could retain an original one in the middle. Edit - I know what you're on about now lol. I reckon the middle scenic one would be fine.

The middle scenic seat is smaller than the outer 2, I don't think you'd have any trouble and it'd look better. Also they are isofix which should suit your future mishaps/blessings/financial black holes :D

hahahaha good news!

Same seats, I was going to move the individual seat off its frame into the middle, in place of the senic seat if I could. Plus means I can see more out the back!

That's a good point, I always had the armrest in the middle rear seat of the disco down cuz it brought the headrest down and I could see where I'd been :D
I'll run the tape over em tomorrow and let you know general widths and heights :)
