bit of a gap here, phones fooked so managed to log in on laptop after forgetting password

so had glowplugs changed, 3 were completely burnt out and 1 was heating just at the tip so they needed doing but no change to cold start issue :(
mechanic said his professional opinion was injector seals  and to run it for a bit see if it develops but get it back to him after xmas and he'll get to bottom of it. his thinking is along the lines of a tiny bit of **** or slight bad seal on one cylinder is causing fuel to leak back into bore and what im seeing is it being burnt off on cold start. no rise in sump level over last few weeks and starts keenly enough but to be fair the last thing i did before this issue was the seals so I'm thinking get him to do them when I've got cash spare as if it is them it'd only have taken me to be slightly off with cleanliness or maybe not quite seated an injector correctly to cause the issue. not overly worried for a few weeks as it runs sweet within 20seconds of starting. Appreciate the bent con rod possibility but I'm not prepared to 'pop' the head off and indulge in that ****ery, been advised its fine in that regard by mech (who i trust and rate) and given the way it runs and has covered a couple of hundred miles including pulling a big caravan I'm confident I'd know about it by now. I'm convinced its a fueling issue. in the meantime Ive checked map, maf, iat, aap, glow plug relay, replaced injector harness (new one was fitted when seals were done but ya know...) and im going to change fuel filter then check fuel and coolant temp sensors, probably need to look at crank sensor interference going on what @bankz5152 has experienced recently and intend to get ecu fuel map checked @KISSMYAURA before i take it back to him. low cost and within my abilities surely. just dont do injector seals tom...

if no change after that then having seals done again, ill be looking at fuel pump and injectors id imagine though in what order i dont know

checking for fooked turbo hoses tomorrow as still got this overboost..? problem after long high speed runs. new wastegate acuator fitted and actuator arm on turbo is free and not seized. symptoms are loud whooshing noise under load and down on power for a little while after coming off motorway then it sorts itself out o_O

Got a Nanocom or similar? Could read the boost on that. If its standard should read 13 - 14psi

got hawkeye but only unlocked for disco 2, need to buy code for defender. had all the hoses off today, intercooler hose to pipe between i/c and turbo has chafed as has the hose from that pipe to turbo. not all the way through but im thinking its weakened the walls enough to let the hoses expand in that area under load. gotta be worth ordering a set of hoses?

Feel yer pain, been there done that....
Dont throw any more money at it till you have sent yer ECU to Gary..... job done, or use one of his local dudes, they can run a full in flight diag and send him the files, he sends them back a map specific for your truck.... yr nearest is PM you their number if you want it.

See my build thread, for details, best thing i ever bought, you can graph all 5 injectors / balance at same time, does everything.
MAP,ATS,MAP, CPS the lot.
Give the nancom a swerve, does more harm than good, garys lads will tell you most of the def ecu map resets they do are cos of probs caused by nancoms, normally due to voltage fluctuations, they are very temperamental.
I feel for you matey been there had that headache.

PS did you re-code injectors? assume you put each one back in same hole! might have mixed em is that possible with all the hokey-cokey injector stress dances you been doing, easily done..... just a thought......

Mine had exactly same symptoms tried everything, sent it to hogorts and dumbledoor gary waved his wand.

lmao there was a fair bit of hokey cokey goin on but yeah mate, made a note of the codes before taking em out and laid them on bench in order as well. even popped rocker cover off the weekend to triple check cuz ive still got the list lol

im gonna pay alive local shop a visit the weekend ill let you know how i get on

@KISSMYAURA Jesus just seen this old pal! Cheeky oil change today (get rid of diesel remnants from the saga) after picking it up from sprayer. Damage done at craddocks been sorted, paint was lifting further along the door so they fixed that and fitted a new intake grille all at their cost so they went beyond what they were liable for so I'm happy. Still won't use their workshop again :D

Still got this rough cold start issue, im in no rush so got new coolant temp and fuel temp sensors coming then its off to alive to check fuel map. If no joy im gonna do injector washers again as it was last thing that was messed with before it started playing up. She's running sweet though!

Passed my B&E trailer test this week so all legal for towing the tin tent :)

New doors and windows on the house and front garden booked in for tarmac in january, all money but its going on the house so happy days.

How you doing geez?

Looking good! I've got steering arms, drop arm ball joint and front axle rebuild coming up after the obvious.

Big job with the garage, do most of it yourself with matey? Be awesome though with a lift!
