Hi all ,
We have a very late P38 4.0 on lpg until very recently all was fine but dreaded air suspension issue has hit, basically back of car on its stops. Front is ok...all suspension lights lit up like an Xmas tree.
I'm pretty mechanical and also no stranger to obd and laptop mechanics. Now I've fixed the issues the 88series3 had I need to tackle the suspension on what is the main family car.
Yes, I know spring kits are out there but I am a big fan of fancy suspension systems and own a Citroen cx gti. I'd rather keep the air system, if I can tackle the hydropneumatic system in the cx, the rangie should be less complex, electronics aside.
Question is ...which obd system and software would you recommend? Also, given its the back of the truck that is flat, is there a quick fix I'm missing?
Thanks

If you just want to interrogate the EAS, you can do so for free.

You'll need to make up a lead, but you can download the software here...

Range Rover P38a - EAS Unlock Suite

Datatek will sell you a lead if you don't want to make your own. Drop him a PM.

If you want full diagnostic capabilities, then a Black Box Solutions Nanocom is the way forward IMHO. Remember a P38 is not OBDII compliant, so you need specialist Range Rover diagnostics equipment, generic stuff won't be able to read the fault codes properly.

The choices are Lynx, Nanocom, Faultmate, Hawkeye, and Testbook....but the Nanocom is the best.

+1 to the Lead (from Datatek) and Free EASUnlock software from RSW Solutions....

The Nanocom is reportedly an awesome piece of kit and is much loved on here...never used one, but if they did one for the L322, I may just save up for it!

The reason your car is slumpy is obviously a leak somewhere.

First thing to check is the condition of your air bags, they wear out and leak. A spray of soapy water will tell you where any leaks are.

I'd start with that.

Faultmate is the best but expensive, Nanocom is nearly as good and costs a lot less, Hawkeye has several shortcomings and it is becoming apparant that Lynx also has problem areas.

Nanocom is by far the best bet for the average Joe. 1: It is NOT locked to a VIN number. 2: It is small and easily portable. Can be stowed in the glove box. 3: Does everything you could possibly need for maintenance. 4: Other Land rover variants. Eg; Thor, Gems, Disco, Etc can be added for around £50.00 a throw.
