I've just fitted my front axle to new galv chassis the issue is the springs are sat at an angle and look like bending quite a bit.

Is this normal will they straighten out once there's some weight on the chassis and suspension bolts are all tightened?
 
Yes, that's what they look like. There have been a fair few people on here over the years who've questioned the front suspension geometry but there's not a lot you can do about it, as the axle position is defined by the front radius arms, and there's no adjustment there, and the top of the spring is defined by the spring seat which is attached to the chassis. So once again no adjustment. If you have a suspension lift of course, you might want castor corrected arms. With a bit of load on it, it often looks like the axle is too far forward in relation to the spring seats too. It all seems to work though!
 
Don't forget to cut a slot in the brake pipe bracket on top of the steering swivel - makes life much easier in the future. You should end up with a U shaped hole, which will allow you to change the top swivel pin/bearing without disconnecting the brakes.

Once weight is on the vehicle ie engine/body the two spring ends will get closer and hence straighten up.

See that mudshield on the floor? bin it.

However, they also stop your brakes getting contaminated when your steering swivels start leaking, which they will. I am about to refit my passenger one for this reason (rusted away years ago) having now rebuilt the swivel. An easy job but one that also cost me a new set of brake pads!
 
I've actually fitted them already if I have any issues then they are easy enough to remove. Never had any issues with the factory ones on the Landy at moment.
