Look I don't claim to be a mechanic far from it I'm a comms engineer
Well educated in my line of work and I thought I'd give this a try and are reading loads from mullets like you made me feel like nothing is possible but CWS in Glastonbury where I bought the BCM from and he assured me it would work then again I read thinking it wouldn't so I contacted him for a return but he told me to speak to a land rover tech and again I was assured it would work you muppet after I entered this sequence

86-5-8 DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Every signal from the remote handset contains the transmitter identification code and a rolling code. The BCU checks

the codes and only responds if the signal is from a valid transmitter. During vehicle production, the remote handsets

supplied with the vehicle are initialised to set their individual transmitter identification codes and synchronise their

respective rolling codes with the BCU. If a transmitter loses synchronisation with the BCU, or if a replacement or

additional remote handset is to be used with the vehicle, the initialisation procedure must be repeated. During the

procedure, all remote handsets for use with the vehicle must be initialised.

Initialisation Procedure

1 Ensure the vehicle is unlocked and the driver and front passenger doors are closed.

2 Install a key/remote handset in the ignition switch, then turn the ignition switch to position I and back to position

0 in less than 5 seconds to put the BCU into the initialisation mode. Continue the procedure within 30 seconds

of turning the ignition switch to position 0.

3 Remove the key/remote handset from the ignition switch.

4 Press and hold the unlock button for a maximum of 15 seconds. During this time, momentarily press the lock

button three times within 10 seconds.

5 Release both buttons.

6 Successful initialisation is indicated by the BCU locking then unlocking the vehicle. If this does not occur, repeat

step 4.

7 Repeat steps 4 and 5 with all other remote handsets belonging to the vehicle (4 maximum). Begin the

initialisation of each remote handset within 30 seconds of completing the previous initialisation, or the BCU will

drop out of the initialisation mode and the complete procedure will have to be started again.

*Now after doing this it all worked everything as it should now if this is bollix then ****. As i said I ain't no land rover tech just doing as I was told so you tnking you are you should go and learn your job better.

Unfortunately, in electronics nothing is impossible. I don't know how many code combinations there are, but it is certainly possible to get 2 the same, unlikely, but possible. I have clicked the FOB on one of my Fords and unlocked a similar Ford parked near mine, quite a surprise when both cars unlocked at the same time. I had to get into my car and lock it to leave the other car locked:eek:

That's the proceedure for post 99MY key sync I think, I'd have to look it up but I'm pretty sure that is in my owners manual:D Don't forget that this is a diesel and the engine ECU to BECM handshake is different to the V8 and is in fact I think a fixed code unlike the V8 ECU's. Thats why loss of sync is less of a problem on the diesel. One more point, the Bosch engine ECU from new can actually be set so that it does not require a code to enable it.

yeah it is in the manual i have just checked.
it is for a 2003 RR Vogue 3L Dieslel
so is this possoble Datatek or am i talking bollox like i have been kindly pointed out?

Smurfboy might owe you an apology as I thought we were talking p38 I know nothing of the L322 so simple mix up might be an idea to list the vehicle in posts as there are people on here with classic p38 and l322 knowledge some have all some have just one good luck

Same here Smurfboy..... apologies due and given; we all it appears, to have assumed from 1st post that you were talking P38, in which case, yeah, bollox n bull**** be about right! However, L322 is a totally different species, and that which you say is perfectly feasable!

Do help yourself and the rest of us tho.....make it clear as to which exact RR you have......there are many other potential issues that will easily get the wrong answers/advice, and could therefore make things worse rather than solve a problem!
