Afternoon- just picked up my first Landy at nearly 50!
Always wanted one and thought bugger it- time for another toy... so got myself a tasty 90 defender pickup (1994). First thing tho. WTF is the battery? Ive tried a quick search and its under the seat for some reason. But how do I actually get at it and which seat is it under- Ive only got two and in the cold evening light cant see bugger all...!
Many thanks for any help...!
Dan

As a LR novice you really would get benefit from buying the owners handbook and a Haynes manual.
The Haynes restoration manual is also a good read.
Together these will give you enough information to operate & maintain your (new to you) vehicle plus tackle the inevitable repairs.

Until then these might help...
Remove passenger seat base, lift and slides out

then remove the metal panel, usually secured with a clip on the seat base.

Battery will be in the seat box below.

When l got my 110 l didn't look at the battery for a few months.
When l did eventually take a look, wedged upside down into the space next to the battery was a full size stuffed cat.

l never found out the story behind it, although l believe the previous owner did use the Land Rover to go shooting and to launch his RIB.
Maybe the cat was the ship's mascot.

Grip the bottom of the front of the base cushion and pull up sharply, then slide forward and lift it out, refit by sliding the two rear lugs into location holes and press down on the front of seat base to snap back into place. No tools required, the battery box cover has a latch at the front, un-clip and slide cover forward to remove.

They're the best cats.
