Hi All,
I'm a new member to this forum and joined so that I could relay my experiences since purchasing my 2004 Vogue RR and year ago. Within weeks of buying the car, my battery went flat. I was in France on holiday. The local garage came along and replaced the battery. It went flat again. Got it charged and returned to Blighty uneventfully. However the discharge problem persisted. I took the car to a local auto electrical outfit that changed the hedgehog and declared the car fixed. It wasn't. Took it back and they declared it was. It wasn't. They charged me £110. On recommendation of a local independent LR garage I then took it to a super auto electrical garage locally. After having the car for a three week period and replacing the BCM under the front passenger seat, they declared the car fixed. It wasn't. After a further stay with them for another 3 week period they declared they were stumped and couldn't fix the problem. They charged me £1200 for the privilege. Some 3 weeks after recovering the car and having to place it on trickle charge overnight to ensure it was useable the next day, one insignificant morning I unlocked it. The locking system, rapidly - twice per second - locked and unlocked itself for some 10 iterations. I then found that the windscreen wipers and wash had stopped working but the rear wipe/wash worked. The car, on the first push of the remote, unlocked the driver's door; on the second push unlocked only the front passenger side door. The rear passenger doors and boot remained locked. I went online to seek answers to why the wipers weren't working and found a post that suggested replacing the wiper relay. There were pictures showing the location. It is behind the battery. I called my, considerably experienced, local independent LR garage and asked if they held stocks of said relay and providing the serial number. The director pf the company said he was not aware that there was such a relay on the RR model in question. I ordered a relay online. I changed out the defunct relay and everything worked fine. The real bonus is that I now no longer have a battery drain problem and all is light and loveliness with my RR. I understand the enormous value that these forums represent for RR owners so felt duty bound to join Landyzone and post my experiences with this car so that others may benefit. I sincerely hope that someone out there will find a solution to their drain problem from my experiences. Cheers.
