Having looked at a whole lot of posts on this subject it would appear that it could well be that the 'Final Stage Resistor' needs replacing, as the little fan behind the top section of the cener console did not seem to turn off!
My question is, if I remove the fuse no.12 and monitor the battery with my voltmeter will this tell me if the FSR is faulty? or does the FSR also relate to other electrical components? any advice appreciated, thanks.

Just dissconnect the plug from the fsr a 5 second job then monitor

Thanks for your reply Dave, It looks quite difficult to get to though, (45 mins quoted to change the FSR so I would think its going to be about the same time to get to the plug)? is there a fuse I could pull out from behind the glove box that would do the same job? Do you know if fuse no.12 disables the FSR?

I can pull mine out in a few minutes it's just under the dash by your left foot when driving I'm not sure on the fuse to pull, trouble with fuses they usually supply other stuff.
Loads of clips on the tube on how to swop it/dissconnect it

Cheers Dave for your input, appreciated!, I think however that I might have found the problem....The horn has not worked very well, it worked, but was VERY quite, I removed the fuse related to the horn and hey-presto it appears to have stopped the battery drain problem! I have no idea why or how but surely this couldn't just be a co-incidence could it? it's ealy days yet as I only removed the fuse yesterday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks again, Stig.

Does the fuse only supply the horn?
If it's the negative side of the horn that is switched, the horn will have a permanent 12 volt feed, so an internal failure could cause a drain.
