Personally I give the not right under the handle a good kick, that engages the servo that pulls the latch release and open the boot.Help...
I have a freelander 1 2006 the back window drops but the door won't unlock and I don't have a key or barrel to open it any ideas what could be the issue and how do I get in it
Cheers mate ill have a look tomorrow evening see if I can get into it bloody nightmare worked 1 minute then stoppedSo firstly, the tailgate key hole.only raises the window if it is down to save you opening the car again to shut it.
If the window drops when you open the door handle then the CCU is getting a command to operate the tailgate latch.
Most likely it is the motor in the tailgate latch that has failed or a broken wire in the hinge of the door.
Check circuits and confirm the door is getting a release voltage to the latch..check on the connector to the tailgate behind the rhs boot side panel.
If it is OK then you will have to remove the inner door cover and release the latch with a rod hooked to the end where the failed motor is attached. Looking at a picture of a latch assembly helps you locate the right spot.
I can't hear the latch in any way but the window dropsPersonally I give the not right under the handle a good kick, that engages the servo that pulls the latch release and open the boot.
When you use the handle or button in the boot does it make an opening noise? Or is it silent?
Sometimes the hook that pulls the latch release falls off and can't open the boot, right pain to fix
As Andy said, likely to be the motor, was the first thing I did on my fl1 and still the worst thing to date (I've replaced the engine) but I'm also not very smart soI can't hear the latch in any way but the window drops
Cheers mate bloody annoying that I can get into the bugger lolAs Andy said, likely to be the motor, was the first thing I did on my fl1 and still the worst thing to date (I've replaced the engine) but I'm also not very smart so
Good luck!
Cheers mate ill have a look through and what I can fathom would chucking a 12v supply at it from inside helpThis will help you
SOLVED - FL1 - rear door latch release.
Hi all, A family owned FL1 for the past 20+ years, now owned by my niece, I've got the job of fixing the tailgate which has been jammed shut since Christmas time. I had a look at the problem the other day and got as far as finding out the latch lever had disconnected from the actuator within...landyzone.co.uk
I've ordered a latch and handle. I cab see any blown fuses or anything so I'm presuming just the latch has failedNot if the 12v feed is ok and the motor in the latch has failed.
Let us know how it goes!I've ordered a latch and handle. I cab see any blown fuses or anything so I'm presuming just the latch has failed
Will do mate the handle has arrived and this latch later this week fingers crossed as my Sunday will be repairing itLet us know how it goes!
Cheers mate was wondering if they where easy to get 2 as I can't get into the bootThis is what it all looks like inside the tail gate - when you get it open! There are 4 screws under the lower edge on the handle side of the tailgate. You can get to them by lying on the 'boot' floor... You have to carefully pull the sides off then lift the card upwards.
Anyone can get in just need a replacement back on order as when the door is stuck shut it is alot of horrible angles to get to itCheers mate was wondering if they where easy to get 2 as I can't get into the boot
Ta da!!!Most likely it is the motor in the tailgate latch that has failed or a broken wire in the hinge of the door.
